I found me some cheap rubbers for my hunk so me & the kids scuffed the wheels & painted before mounting. A trip to school will happen soon & then the cab is coming off so we can pull the seized Detroit. We'll clean & paint the frame & I'll do some rust repair on the floors & rockers as well.

I'd put some nice fog lights in it.
I pirated many parts from this truck (before I bought the entire truck) to fix the '81 K20 Burb that I have. I plan on putting the turn signals behind the grille and putting driving/fog lamps in the bumper. I don't have much money or many hours in this truck so far. I went back to the farm yesterday evening and put the wheels on and it kept me motivated to get the Jimmy fixed. Thanks for the input as well.

traded a Ruger ec9 for 2 LS short blocks (block/crank only) today. The LS that was in the truck spun a bearing and the crank and cam was toast. So now I've got 3 blocks and 2 cranks for the machine shop to choose from.

And the expensive journey begins :)

Got new black lug nuts and shined up center caps. Now need to clean up the scratches where the rings were and then repaint. Picked canyon black satin. And a satin clear coat. What y'all think. I kinda like it better than chrome lugs.

Today started with grinding rust off the back of the donor dash for the refurb job and spraying with rust encapsulation.

Then I switched gears (pun intended) to adjusting the steering box to eliminate some of the slop.

After that, I took apart the Edelbrock fuel filter to see if the sediment had set in- must have a clean tank. Or at least it’s great now.

Topped off the trans fluid with some good Lucas stuff since it’s now broken in.

Played with the vacuum advance, but no improvement. Still a dead spot when I stab it from 1000-1500, otherwise it drove around town like nothing and I enjoyed the sun and good weather before the rain returns.

Last thing was spraying the front shock bolts with PB Blaster and getting ready to put in the new KYBs. The steering box being tightened up helped, but the front shocks are looser than….I’ll leave that to you.

Removed front suspension stuff........... except for pitman arm. It wouldn't surrender today.
For some reason, suddenly, I am unable to post photos........... :Insane:
Finally got the &^%$ pitman arm off.
Had to cut a slice in it, then air chisel it a bit to loosen it up.

Pulled the air horn because it was too high pitch for me. Replaced it with a gm stock horn I found in the shed but not after a bought one from auto zone. So nnow have 2 horns. Much better. I had to move one back down because the hood hinge was gonna hit it. Little paint on the old one really helped. Lol
