Yes they're the 4x6 sealed beams and the leds are way too big. Anyone know the brighter sealed beams in 4x6? May just go that way with led fog lights to help.

Wish they made new mounting hardware for them. I'm just gonna send them back. I'm not gonna try and fab it. Too much in that lol

Found mine on eBay after a bit. Good condition but as you see I had the end brackets re-chromed. Also bought a mounting kit that had the correct gaskets and fasteners off eBay.

Exactly what I did. Although down the line, I’ll likely send mine to @FireTruck1984 for refurbishment or maybe an exchange for already refurbished. The ones I have are scarred a bit and match the natural patina- but someday I’m gonna make it nice. Like @Keith Seymore nice.

I foil taped the back of gauge bezel cover so it's more reflective. Came out pretty good, im happy. Also going to upgrade the bulbs.

Ill do a before and after.

I plan on painting the gauge backer either gloss white, or silver to also reflect better, and add the foil tape, wherever its needed most. And some LED gauge bulbs should really brighten it up.
Also going to polish the gauge lenses.

Got out to the garage and rebuilt the carb, went a stage up on the 1406 per the Edelbrock chart. No idea of the cam, but it’s obviously cammed, tuning tomorrow and going to play with the step up springs. Sounds a little rowdy.

I hear ya. Take your time, go slow. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I don’t enjoy that either, you’re doing better than I could.

Thinking of using these for backup lights. They're not as bright as I'd hoped. I'm still waiting on the led headlights too so I guess we'll see how it works with those installed.

















Fogights aren't supposed to be bright they are supposed to be dim and aimed low so the light doesn't reflect back in your face like your head lights do. Try them in the fog before you decide to move them.

Sorry about not answering about he car. It's a '72 Olds, Ninety Eight coupe. It has about 88,000 miles on it. I also have a '72 Toronado next to it with about 78,000 miles and an '83 Toronado diesel with 105,000 miles. I collect Oldsmobiles but can't do much with them anymore as I'm retired and on a fixed income. They're all for sale. I'll keep my '75 K/20 and my '07 Yamaha XV1700 though.
The '83 is my baby, it's the one I drive the most as it gets 25 mpg.

That’s pretty cool. In drivers ed, I had to parallel park a 98 just like that one on the test course. At the time, I couldn’t believe I pulled it off.

Nice to see a 5.7 still chugging along. They weren't quite as bad as most people thought. Especially the later ones.

I agree with you! I bought this car from the original owners a few years ago. They kept it garaged and maintained. He never had any issues with the engine and I haven't either. When I mention it has a diesel, everyone says it's a POS, not this one. People don't know how to care for the older diesels. I like it.
