That is sad.Note: I cleaned my original brake calipers and went through the por-15 process for their brake caliper kit. What a huge disappointment. The red looks like my wifes red fingernail polish. Translucent and watery. I was so damn disappointed I could hurl.
Catbox yours look amazing. Ya, after I find a way to get the por-15 off my original caliper I am going to research what you have shown here. Powder coating is $150.00 per caliper at elite powder coating here in Tucson. That's just a bit much I feel. I like the way yours looks. Thanks for the pics!!That is sad.
Years ago, I used a Dulicolor kit from Oreillys on my VW Squareback calipers.
Shown here on the left. The can of black was used on the disc's themselves.

The process was simple and the results turned out great.

Sadly, I have not even put them onto the car as it is a long term project that hasn't even started.
So they still look great though in the boxes.
Perhaps something like that could be painted over the POR stuff...
I've thought about it. Its ultra hard and doesn't come off easily so painting over it with something that's NOT translucent like this junk may be ok. I'm gona test on some other parts this weekend. this part is original and Id like to keep it. Thanks for the post SBS.I thought you could paint over por-15.
I did it and at work one day everything in it was stolen. Even the wd40 and plastic straw. LolNot a lot done this week. Last week I did some services which I posted about already. I did manage a wash and wax, but what I'm really hear for is to tell you about a change I've made and if any of you have any input.
So for about 4 years now I've had a plastic rail to rail tool box in the bed of the truck. It's worked out great from the stand point that it gave me a little space to to keep a few things dry and not have to have them in the cab. But it was undersized for a lot of tasks, for example I kept my straps, ropes, tool and spare parts in there so there was very little for stuff like if I stopped at the grocery store. And the other down fall is it was always in the way taking up bed space. Every time I'd do a feed run for the farm I'd have to pull it out or anything else that I wanted full use of the bed.
So two weeks ago I was in costco and saw these crates.

They have a nice positive locking lid and were $7.49 each I bought 8.
I've taped over the slots in the lid on the edges just to ensure that doesn't become a point of entry for water. Empty they stack inside each other well and the lids will stack and fit to the bottom as well.
So I've done away with the tool box. I have one crate with my stuff in it, and two more that I can pull out when I need the dry storage space.
I drove the truck 400 miles on Saturday with this in the bed and it did just fine. So far everything is staying dry. I think the one down fall is it's less secure, but if I have to park in bad area I can always put it in the cab and lock the door. That's probably more secure than the old tool box was.
Here is three boxes in the bed, one has my stuff the other two are empty and they are fitted together.

Right now I'm just using that rope to hold it in place but this weekend I think I'll set something up using the holes in the stake pockets below the bed rail that doesn't require tieing. Two reasons, it'll be easier to use and look better.
So what do you guys think? Anyone else doing anything like this?
Did they take the crate or just the contents? Nothing is ever going to be high security with a plastic crate, but these are lockable with a paddle lock.I did it and at work one day everything in it was stolen. Even the wd40 and plastic straw. Lol
They left the crate, snapped off the padlock. Took the padlock too! LolDid they take the crate or just the contents? Nothing is ever going to be high security with a plastic crate, but these are lockable with a paddle lock.
gee, that's too bad. If I keep it I'll be mindful never to leave anything of value in it. I appreciate that. They left the crate, snapped off the padlock. Took the padlock too! Lol
