Cranked it up yesterday since it hasn't run in a couple weeks. Let her get warm and gave her a few good revs. Then shut her back down and went home. But I did order the Nu-Relics power window kit yesterday too, so hopefully here soon she'll be functional again!

ordered some magnets to put on the underside of the radiator support. This will help hold those screws/tools you place in the top corners when the hood is up when your working on something.

If it doesn't work out, I'll find a use for them.

Went over to where the truck was stored today to do a little puttering and start it and warm it up. I wanted to figure out what the switch at the bottom of the dash went to since it didn't seem to do anything when switched on. It went from the trailer brake, to the switch then all the way down the truck frame to the trailer plug in sockets (one in bed by 5th wheel and one in bumper). No clue what would need switched on and off in a trailer brake setup but once I get it out of the field and onto something I can lay on without ants and oak leaves poking and biting the **** outa me I'll do a pin to pin and see wtf. While puttering I noticed the vacuum hose from the cruise control check valve to the pot on the drivers side was off. It had gotten brittle and broke. I replaced it temporarily with the window washer hose and will finish that up with a new hose next week. It started and ran good though so I got that goin for me.

It's probably for the 12v feed to a 7-pin trailer connector. The PO might have wanted to be able to cut off that connection if it was parked connected to a trailer for any amount of time.

Thanks for the input but if that's the case, I don't know why they just didn't jump directly off the fuse box, why go through the trailer brake? It's also a blue wire so if they tried to be consistent with diagrams, that would be the brake. Of course PO's don't always follow diagrams or instructions. Even though I have a square now and am dealing with a few PO's, Karma will never even out the hacks I've committed vs what I have to fix now. Hacks kept me on the road for the most part though.

Just think about how smart the most average guy you know is... then realize that half of the people in the world are dumber than him.

I wouldn't be surprised if whoever installed the brake controller did a nice professional job and wired that blue wire to a 40 amp fuse/breaker to the battery. Someone probably came along and decided that they wanted to be able to charge the battery on their travel trailer while driving, but didn't want to run a whole new separate breaker to the battery, so they just tied into the one they already knew existed and then put it on a switch so it only charged when they want it to. It's stupid... and dangerous, but not the worst of either I've seen done to a vehicle.

Took a baby step tonight & got the tank plumbed. Also got the 2 wires run thru the loom. Hopefully will be able to get them secured inside the frame & connected tomorrow evening.

Not "done" yet but took a pic anyway. I received a brand new set of center caps for my '87 4wd. I had polished the originals and got them looking pretty good but I wanted them to look a little bit better. I also remember the 4X4 decals being orange, mine are red. I doubt most folks really know the difference or even care...but I care.

So thanks @Royal Sierra 454 for giving me a better than fair deal on this set of center caps. It will be nice to have one more thing "perfect" before I attend Cruisin' the Coast this October. This old truck will never be perfect but it is getting better and better.

Nice, when you replace them you should get some nice button head bolts to replace the ones that hold the cap to the wheel....
