Myself, I would place the fuel filter before the regulator, as any restriction and associated pressure drop in the fuel filter is not controlled by the regulator AND the fuel going through the regulator is also filtered - contributing to longer life and accuracy.

In my ongoing quest for perfection from the TBI 350 I decided to change the Knock Sensor. Just being honest, I didn't even know my engine had a knock sensor until a few days ago. I have been digging through this forum researching and reading and studying and while reading some stuff by @Vbb199 I learned about the knock sensor. So that gave me another lead to follow.

Stopped on my way home from work at O'Reilly's, spent $40 including tax and bought myself the biggest HorsePower Boost I have yet done to the Beige Unit. When I fired it up I saw my son's face change... Before I could accelerate slowly and gently into the upper RPM range but if I stepped into it aggressively the exhaust note would go flat, the power would fall off and I would basically make a bunch of noise with hardly any increase in speed. Now I feel like I am getting most of the advertised power from this old 350. I don't care if it is only rated for 210 HP, I just want it to give me what it is supposed to give.

Oh yes, I've done alot of learning about the esc system, in conjunction with a knock sensor, and the ecms data and such.

I'm determined I will integrate an old school TBI esc system in conjunction with my holley efi, as a means to retard timing for when we put an 80mm on the big block and accidentally miscalculate cylinder pressures.

I'm currently in process of retrofitting an old school TBI distributor and its ignition module to play with holley efi also.


Love the simplicity of those systems !

Out of curiosity, what were you having trouble with ? Overly sensitive knock sensor ?

I remember those knock sensors being VERY touchy if there was an exhaust leak nearby, or cheap shorty headers that would mimic a knock - then the timing would be retarded so bad the truck would drool and start eating all the green crayons.
Fun times at the dealership in those days.......

Never ate one. My Marine friend used to eat those first, so I had to settle for the bland purple ones..... still better than the silver ones (too much aftertaste.)

I assume that is directed at me. My thinking was if the regulator was to come apart the filter would catch it, but yea filtering first has it's benefits too.

Rebuilt the Hydroboost today, and powder coated the mounting plate, and master cylinder cover...Ultra chrome. Not as shinny as Chrome Plating, but looks pretty good.

Added some side boards today (I like to be a little different). That way if there’s a matching pickup in the parking lot I know which one is mine. That has never happened but you never know.

Mine had running boards when i bought it, i swore i was gunna tear them off! After using them to hold wrenchs, beer and using them to pull myself out from under the truck i grew to like them.
First thing I did to my 75 was tear those things off.

Yessir, I've been wanting to sell them for quite a while. They're just sitting in the back of my parts truck now. They're undamaged and complete, and comes with all the hardware.

Exactly when the knock sensors went out in my 2000 camaro SS it did the same thing. Glad you got it fixed it makes a huge difference. They reduce timing because they think something is broken in the motor. Lol
