The 2000 S10 pickup was the only 4 cylinder and 2 wd we owned.
It was bought as an economy run a round vehicle at the end of the model year with a low price tag.
It ran well enough but, I always wished it had the 4.3
It did some long distance parts runs when it was able enough to fit the load.

I had 3. An 85 GMC Gypsy extended cab that I bought in 94 with a 2.8 L that had a broken crankshaft. I drove that until 2000 when my wife took the engine out again. I then bought a loaded 92 extended cab Sonoma with the 4.3 that I drove until 2008 when it burnt up on me. I then bought a 93 S-10, 4.3 loaded extended cab that I still have.

I've heard about some 2.8 broken cranks. And the front journals tended to wear out of tolerance more than the rest of them on those cranks.
