I paid 2000$ to my wife's grandfather, for an 85 k10 short box old man owned since 92. Ive probably got 5x that amount in it with a lot of work in the last 5 years

Bought mine for 10000$ in 2016. Had a little over 19000 original miles. Sat for a very long time in a barn with a concrete floor. I paid too much and nobody has let me sell it for even

a small profit, so I have used it as a daily driver. I would do it again though. After the initial bugs being worked out, its been a dependable truck. I have around 65000 on it now.
Well since you have a 65000 mile truck that’s worth about what you paid for it you’re basically breaking even after having a cool daily driver for free for the last 6 years… I’d say you didn’t overpay at all!

Saw this meme and it was too good to pass up posting here. I have a feeling when this guy goes to sell it he won't be taking lowball offers....he knows what he's got!

I have owned 3 squares in my life, the most expensive (my current 'burb) cost me a grand. The other two were rust buckets, but this one was real solid (just needed some normal cosmetic stuff given the age) that's why I was willing to pay so much for it.
I need to come up thewre where you are sheesh.

Hah, the two rusty ones were from up here, they were so bad that they no longer had enough structural integrity to drive and they got scrapped. The clean burb' I have now was from out west, picked it up in Colorado. You don't want to buy a truck from New England unless you got serious money to spend, all the cheap ones have turned to dust.

After retiring I started working a couple days a week at a local auto parts store, delivering parts to commercial customers. One day I delivered to one of my favorite customers and spotted a jet black 87 GMC truck on his lot. It caught my eye and I asked him if I could take it home and get it on my lift and do a thorough inspection. Mechanically I can do a lot, but my only option for rust and the associated body and paint is to write a check.

Long story short, it was in amazing condition with zero rust and, with the exception of the hood, still original paint. Obviously had been garage kept and well taken care of. I have had the paint buffed, pinstripes replaced and replaced most of the trim, taillights, emblems etc. Interior wise I have redone the doors and carpet and am waiting for my new dash, at which time I will also replace the instrument bezel and add a factory clock.

i paid $8000 for it in October of 2021

Not sure if there is any interest in this topic or not as it may be a bit personal for some, but since I didn't see a similar post I thought others may be interested in it as well. There are a few threads on how much people are selling a c10 for, but theres a big difference between how much someone is selling a truck for and how much a truck actually sells for, which is why this thread would have to only be about what you or a friend actually paid for the truck. I'd like to think that sharing this info won't hurt the value of your truck if you ever dare to part with it, but the information could be very valuable to folks that are in the market for a squarebody, or even the folks that are selling a squarebody, it would be helpful to know a number not to sell the truck under.

Obviously there are huge variables that go into a trucks price; region, running or not, motor and transmission, aftermarket parts, interior condition, and the condition of the body panels/paint to name a few. If you are comfortable with posting what you or a friend paid for a square, please list the region and condition of the truck too. Picture are beneficial if possible, as well as when (what year) you bought the truck as values have changed drastically as these trucks age.

These trucks used to be a dime a dozen but have seemingly gotten harder to find in decent condition for a good price, so what screaming deal have you found???
1600 running and driving. Still running original drivetrain with 43k mikes on it. Everything else has been restored/replaced.

Purchased all the parts minus the motor in 2014 for $2500 to build this Frankenstein truck. Cab and bed came out of Florida and was in good condition.
