In another post I mentioned all the goodies at the local candy store (Summit Racing).
And they have this "Demo" section. The Demo section is where parts that have been EITHER: purchased and rrturned. (May or may not have been bolted or tack welded on and then removed and returned.
OR, Summit has used them in some kind of a display or promotion and can not sell them as new.
Or in the case of some racing flexplates, their expiration date has passed. (Yea, you read that right...expiration date on a racing flexplate) I got one for $10.
The only CATCH is that once you buy it, IT'S YOURS forever.
If it doesn't fit, tough snit!

So, that's the demo rack and if you have patients and are presistant in checking a couple times a week or more, you will probably score.

And to get ya drooling all over yourself, here are some pics.

That place is worse than a casino for a gambling addict. I'm kind of okay with not having a summit store close to me lolol
Yea, it's a 2 edged sword.
Either learn restraint or go home busted.
Honestly, I walk out empty handed more times than scoring a find.
It's the thrill of the hunt.
It's like walking a rummage sale in A/C.

I hear what you’re saying but I spend way too much money there from afar, probably would help me actually save money by living closer, haha.

I need an AC compressor I'm afraid. Discount rack price for a good one would be nice.
Ya know, I've thought about how a guy could scope out what others might need.
It would be difficult to have a "santa's list" when ya walk in and then get paid for the item. The money grubbing fed has ruined electronic money transfers. 1099 my rear end! And then what happens if some cat changes his mind? Alot of feelings get stepped on.
I don't see much of a way around it.
I've seen a couple crack-heads in there only a couple times. Buying a hodge-podge of things. Little doubt they will toss em up on flee-bay and try to turn a buck. It was hillarious watching them try to figure out what to buy. They seemed to get easily confused. I think one tried to take a hit off a tailpipe before the catback was warmed up...lol

You know, I do see a few travel trailers parked in the lot now and then. I wonder how far they traveled or are they just stopping by on the way to elsewhere?

I spend plenty with summit as well lol. The problem with this place, is everything is on sale. My previous generations of my family have ruined me. "deals" I just can't pass it up

I would have so much stuff that I might need on the shelf at home if that was near me....
Was just talk8ng to a Buddy about this today. Told him if he sees a deal on a procharger, let me know. His argument was wait until need one and are ready for one,my argument was if I find a deal I'll just buy it and have if/when I need it.

I did that with my exhaust.
After I got the truck last fall, I started a list of what I wanted to replace. Headers, pipes and muffles were on the list. When the first set of headers were setting on the rack, I had them in hand. Black, 3" long tube $60. I had them in hand, and I put them back. I wanted stainless. I waited 4 months and then one day, there they were. Stainless, 3" long tube headers. $130. A week or so later, I found 2 sets of Reddman header gaskets $5. It was 2 months before the 2-1/2" stainless dual tubing kit was on the rack. It was missing a 45° bend tube. I was lucky enuf to find one Flowmaster muffler on the rack but paid full price for the mate. The entire system cost about the same as the econo dual exhaust in one of the chevy catelogs.
My wife chuckles everytime I come in the front door with a plastic bag rattling behind my back. "Whatcha find now?"
I think the radio was the first non-essencial buy. And I really debated on that.
Honestly, I sat down in one of the display folding chairs with the radio in my lap. I just kept thinking I should put it back. It's a "want", not a "need". Radiator was a need. Good headlights were a need. Replacing all filters/fluids was a need. Shocks were a need. Exhaust had numerous rust thru, that was a need. Radio...not so much. But where was I going to ever find a classy radio that cheap? So it followed me home. And I still feel a bit guilty about it.

See, it's a curse living this close.
I gotta screw 1 foot to the floor...lol

The exhaust pipe kit was a hilarious show.
I turned the corner to the last rack isle and I'm just moseying down the isle. I spots the 18" wide X 4ft long box and it's got a whole lot of 2-1/2" stainless tubing in it. I looks around like I'm about to slip the whole thing under my sleeveless shirt. I spot this chubby sweaty guy coming at me with his beady eyes focused on the box, I sit down, in the box just as he asks, "what's that?" I reply, "That is sold!"
Now this box has got to weigh at least 60#, if not more and it's so awkward, I'm trying to figure out if it will, in fact, work for my truck, while the chubby buzzard is still circling. So I finally get sorted thru all the pieces and determine, it will work. Now to get this monstrocity to the cashier and I got no cart and I don't dare take my ars out of the box, or I'm loosing it.
So, I do the only sensible thing, I scream, "FIRE!"....
No, not really, I do the next most sensible thing, I start dragging the dern box over to the shoping carts. It was bad enuf with me bum parked in the box, people were beginning to wonder about things...now, I'm dragging the box...that confirmed any doubts they had about me.
I didn't care. It was a steal.
I finally arrive at the carts, thank goodness the box was built to take the kind of punishment only special knuckleheads can dish out....while trying to save 350 smack-a-rooz. I'm sure the guy monitoring the security cameras was peeing himself laughing. Heck, I was laughing...
Finally got checked out and headed for the door when I spot chubby over there stewing in his juices.
I almost stuck my tongue out at him...lol
That's my story and I'm sure there a security guy/gal somewhere that can attest to the truth of it.
