yep Tip-in vac switch - It’s in the same wiring diagram as the knock sensor in your other post.

Electronic spark control. It fights detonation. If your distributor has a 4 wire plug,that goes through the firewall you have ESC lots of people have removed it over time. I like it others like it,some don't,I think most of the people that don't like it,there's wasn't working right when they got the truck. If it senses detonation it retards timingb4 degrees,if it still senses knock it pulls another 4 degrees until the detonation goes away.

I found it. Thank you guys. Can find it in my next post “free crap to anyone looking for old emissions epquiment” along with this spooky looking octopus I found. It is literally hooked up to nothing

Since it is not the original engine ( early 90s 454 I think) I’m assuming it’s not the original distributor. It does not even have a vacuum hose hooked up. I like the idea of the esc but don’t think it’s in the cards

Yep the esc would have gone with the original engine and distributor I'll take all the esc stuff if you want to pull it. The controller is behind the glove box. As for the octopus thing. You may want to keep it and hook it up correctly. Or at least see what the P.O. did as a work around for not using it. It vents the gas tank,but more than just venting,heck it would vent with no gas cap, but venting open it can pull in moisture to the fuel tank (water in the gas) and also can vent gas fumes into your garage. That octopus vents the gas tank in a controlled manner. Anyways P.O. had to do something to vent the gas tank, or as it pulls fuel and can't pull air into the tank it will starve for fuel. Like when you put your finger over the end of a straw and pull the straw out of the cup the coke stays in the straw. Same deal the fuel can't move if air can't get in. P S. It's not enough vapor to start a fire just enough to make your garage smell like gasoline.

I need to figure out what PO did with the gas tank too. The fuel gauge does not work and there is a holly pump on the frame that taps into the original fuel line and sends a rubber hose up to the engine. Havent seen the vent line to the tank but assuming it’s there somewhere

My octopus had a bunch of lines maybe I yank all of them and just run a new vent line to it to minimize moisture into the tank?

It's not complicated to get it hooked backup and functional. Give us a couple of good pics so we can see all the hoses,and post year,make and original engine configuration so we can determine where everything went to begin with. If you have an open vent line somewhere,for now put a clear plastic fuel filter on the open end. It will keep dirt and bugs out of the vent line/tank until we vent it correctly but also will still allow air in.
