Anyone know what this is?

I’ll look it up but what is an esc system and why would someone want it?

Electronic spark control. It fights detonation. If your distributor has a 4 wire plug, that goes through the firewall you have ESC lots of people have removed it over time. I like it others like it,some don't,I think most of the people that don't like it,there's wasn't working right when they got the truck. If it senses detonation it retards timingb4 degrees,if it still senses knock it pulls another 4 degrees until the detonation goes away.

Since it is not the original engine ( early 90s 454 I think) I’m assuming it’s not the original distributor. It does not even have a vacuum hose hooked up. I like the idea of the esc but don’t think it’s in the cards
