Short Water pump

Replacing the water pump and didn’t notice the different length bolts....Rookie mistake. I have 2, 2 inch bolts And 2, 3 inch bolts. Lengths estimated. I can’t figure out which went where. I would think The shorter bolts would go at the bottom because they’re in the water jacket but I’m also hesitant putting the longer bolt near the #1 cylinder. And if I look online kits come with 3 short bolts and a longer one. Can’t find a diagram for it. Thanks

Two things:

1: It should be a "long" water pump.
2: Every SBC I've ever messed with, all four bolts were the same length.

My apologies, it is a long pump. The PO must’ve thrown in different length bolts for some reason. I’ll just find some new bolts all same length to throw in there. Thanks

For the best, especially when dealing with water jackets. IIRC, my ford 300 had 2 bolts out of the whole mix that were special length and went into the water jacket, special lengths, the rest were the same. Annoying design choice..
