yea called all-metal, back in the day guys used to put metal shaving from drill presses and stuff like that from machine shops or whatever, that way the old magnet trick to tell if it has bondo doesn't work because the shavings make it stick.

I agree with Irishman, get a donor, and cut the pieces off you need plus a little more for fitting, and just get after it. Get your self a good welder, I had the one from Harborfrieght, and burned it out in about 2.5 spools, and plus it didn't make a good weld. I up graded to a Hobart, and have been very happy with it. Once you get you welder, practice with it! Practice makes perfect. I'm not a great welder, but I don't think I'm to bad.

I skinned my tail gate, and than cut out the license plate box, and welded it all up. as far as fenders and replicable parts, just buy new and replace it.

Nice work clean! :waytogo:

...and ditto on the replacement parts. Much easier and more cost effective:)

sorry man but I highly doubt panel adhesive is tougher or stronger then rivets or screws, I've never seen it at any local parts store either. Only the body shop supply and requires a $500 gun to apply the crap. I tried some I found online and it was worthless, rivets held better then it did. It would not hold crap.

I've been using the 3M stuff for 11 or 12 years at work. If you use it right and prep the metal correctly, it will be as strong as factory spot welds every couple inches, plus it eliminates most rust issues associated with welding, screwing, riveting, etc. And the gun is something like $150 now I think.

Good info bucket! This is what I was alluding to. How long have you been doing body work?

yea but when you only do it once in awhile $150 for a gun is ridiculous. We only paid $200 for the welder we got. I see ppl use it all the time online and on tv and have good luck with it, I just did not.

I've never herd of this stuff?! Is it like an epoxy?

MR Clean, that metal work looks awesome! I almost did the licence plate bucket to the dakota I painted, after shaving a goofy looking 3rd tail light off I got rushed and just painted it. Working metal is alot of fun.

I wonder what the hell happend to them, I figured they'd be selling, especially as these trucks get older. I know I wish I had some for all 4 corners now. :baby:

beats me man all the old stuff you can't find anymore, I know alot of ppl hate it, but all the lund stuff like visors and cab spoilers and crap, bug shields, grilles all that, fender flares, I mean pretty much every outside accessory you could think of they had, and had cheap. Now they have nothing for old trucks but repair panels usually. LMC has alot of outside add-ons but they want double the price of what they used to be.

About 13 years. I got into it about when I started driving, and just kinda stuck with it.

I agree, it's expensive for occasional use especially when you factor in the cost of the adhesive. To some people the cost is worth it though, because it's faster and there's a much less chance of rust forming.
