I just picked up a 1980 C-10. It has the 85 MPH Speedo and the big gas gauge in the 2 main holes in the dash cluster..... I know I can use an earlier speedo (73-74?) to get a 100 mph display, but i'm stopped when it comes to the tach. Currently I've got the 5.7 liter Olds Diesel (converted to gas), now if I where going to keep it, I would use the conventional V8 tach....... However, it is my intention to use a 292 inline 6 cylinder engine once I have it built.*I can't find a stock tach for use with a 6. Anyone have any insight? Comments? The I6 is gong to be turbocharged, and there is no possibility of not using that engine.

I need one with the font that's on this speedo. It's being picky but I think staring at the two different fonts would get on my nerves.

Abra-cadabra

Awesome, you just saved me a lot of money. I was trying to figure out how to swing for the money to put all custom gauges in, now I will just go this route.

So you have two gas gauges?

I don't. I am just wanting to replace my large gas gauge with the tach/gas gauge combo. I need a tach and don't want to attach one to the column or dash.

Rich Weyand is on this site and he has this setup and did run two gas gauges. I think he has a write up on it somewhere on here.

Just got off the phone with them and they are building me a tach with the early font. Thanks for the help.

OK I am going to be the one to ask. How much is this setup going to cost? I have an old Sun Tach mounted on my column and I like the in dash one better.

Edit- I just checked the link for the price.

That's cool that they can make you a custom one with the early font - didn't know that but I have a '91 so their standard font is better for me. I love my GM Sports Tach, especially since I can keep the fourth small hole for a trans temp gauge. My standard combo tach was $200, was the custom one any more? Here's a vid of my finished installation:

That's so badass:party36:

I've been dreading having to either blow a ton of money on a custom cluster or even worse having to "modify" the cluster to fit after market gauges. Now I can spend less money and have factory gauges and have a tach:) Just need to do a lighting upgrade...
