No questions, just showing what I'm up to. I replaced the gaskets on these valve covers back in the early 90s, so no shock that the gaskets dried out and started leaking. I guess my dad tried tightening them down while I was on the service, especially the driver side, lol. I know I didn't put them on that tight. Anywho, teaching moment for the boy, 13 now. He will probably never have to work on stamped steel valve covers, but he'll know what not to do if he comes across a set that leaks. They gotta be flat around the bolt holes. Here's some pictures of my improvised anvil and my boy learning to hammer out puckers around a bolt hole. Just look at that boy go. I showed him how to do two, and he did the other 6. We do the Holley 750 next. Stay tuned folks, we got an old truck or two, a lotta shop space, and a curious 13 year old I homeschool. Hope y'all enjoy the show.

Little black paint hides a multitude of sins, lol. We'll be replacing them in the future anyway. Gaskets glued on to the covers, let them set a bit. Studs for valve cover installed. Be using spreader bars too. More to come.

Ok, got all the pieces back on we wanted to keep, the rest goes into he trash, especially that quadrajet. Great when they work right, but I don't have the best luck with them. I have good luck with a Holley. Fuel line issues to work out, some linkage too, and it's back on the road.

I have valve covers on my list for this Saturday. And I will be sorting the vacuum lines - lots of the emissions lines are still there, but none of the emissions stuff. Trying to stop oil and vacuum leaks all on the same day...

She is just pouring oil from around the oil pan. Those gaskets are dried out too. The two oil pans are for the transfer case, which gets replaced around the end of this month.

All this is over night, not even a full 24 hours, lol.

Check your oil pressure sender 1st,the oil will run down the back of the block and track along the oil pan ridge. I'd make sure the oil isn't running down externally first. O.P sender is a much more common leak. Also make sure pcv is operating properly.

Hadn't even crossed my mind. Good advice, will check next.
