Hello,

I just installed a new direct fit/replacement radiator with brass tanks on my 1978 K20. It’s a 350/auto with no air conditioning. The upper radiator hose connected to the radiator on the upper, passenger side.

I attempted to have the original rebuilt, but it was too far gone and they discarded it. I now have no example to look at.

This new radiator has a fitting to accept the heater hose. It is a brazed-on port with female threads.

My question is: is there a fitting that threads into this port to accept the hose, or does the hose simply clamp on like a typical hose connection?

I assume that it’s threaded to accept a plug if this port is not used?

Thanks for your tiime,

Jim

Need pics of the radiator in question. The threaded fitting is probably for the trans cooler line(s), usually two of them, with a smaller nipple for the heater hose above them. But need pics.

Picture would help but manufacturers have consolidated part numbers. Without seeing it some of those outlets are threaded inside. You can either get a pipe plug that fits or a neater hose rubber cap.

Thanks for the reply’s. It’s not the trans lines. They are below this port. I called the radiator shop that attempted to re-built it. The tech told me that this port is threaded for a plug when not in use. The 3/4” upper heater hose fits over the port and uses a standard clamp.

I just bought a new radiator today, I'll have to see if mine is threaded or just brazed.

You need a brass male pipe thread to barbed fitting.

Yep, it has a threaded plug, but is brazed on to the tank.
