Wasn’t sure where to post this one , I scored some windshield washer nozzles at the junkyard and putting them on my 74 c10 hood I see this giant hole, was this for a factory under hood light perhaps? Aftermarket hood most likely so maybe a universal hole? Thanks

It was for the optional under-hood light, but I've never seen one on a truck in the junkyard. Even my GMC with Silverado trim (highest trim level in '75) did not include that light.

Not that old! I have seen it before myself and dismissed it because it was relevant to my build. So it has been in the last couple of years.

Wow thanks. I know I’ve seen a center post on some years but goggle can’t find one picture! My firewall has no holes where this would’ve been. I think these hoods were 73 through 80, like I said I think this hood has been replaced I don’t think it fits my application.I have the two at the sides of the rear of hood at fender/cowl.

Ah yes found the thread. Little more research I see it on 78-80 Blazers perhaps?. Extra safety measure as years went on, blazer specific being passenger vehicle? . My hood being aftermarket to fit many years includes it but thinking 73-75 the wiring harness would obstruct it. After that I see the junction block moved to the drivers side and harness routing changed slightly. Ya, I was bored today

I want to put one under my hood but I'm going to figure out how to put a mercury tilt switch on it so it'll come on when I open the hood rather than a switch I have to turn on manually.

@MikecLA,

Classic Industries has the lights that go in that hole, and some switches for it to, but for me they didn't have the Mercury tilt switch. I'll have to find that myself.
