Hello,

Going to go look at a 2500 burb with a 6.2. I have a 17’ 10k flatbed. The burbs bumpers will overhang the trailer as a burb is roughly 18’.

Seeing as I will be using every bit of the trailer’s available length, there won’t be much opportunity to adjust the tongue weight. If I center it on the trailer pictured below, will I be way too tongue heavy? Never towed a burb and not sure what the balance is like. It’s about 5 hours away, so not like I’m dragging it around the corner.

Isn't that about the length of the two axle u haul trailer?

I ask because my dad towed a 4x4 burb for me one time with a similar size u haul trailer and the damn thing kept wagging.
It was behind his 07 2500 hd

It got slightly better one the way back because we put a bunch of scrap and heavy metal in the back of his truck.

I would think if you pushed the burb as far up on the trailer as possible, then threw the trailer ramps in the back of the tow vehicle (since they will need to come off anyway) you should be okay. I'd be worried about a panic stop thought without a front rail on the trailer. Maybe try to fabricate or fasten some wheel stops as far forward as possible. Just remember, you want 20%-25% (the higher the better) of the total weight to be tongue weight. With that calculation, you "should" be okay.

What is the tow vehicle? Rating on that trailer both gross weight and tongue limit, how new are the tires, load rating.

Have you considered a tow dolly? Yank the driveshaft and go provided vehicle has good tires and towable.

Here it is

Looking back, that was crazy to attempt hahaha
For ***** and giggles I put the burb in the “will this work” form on U-Haul’s website and they say I’m good to go!

Lots of car and equipment haulers don’t have a front rail, but I see your concern. I have four 3333 wheel lassos and four chain binder combos that I use for equipment, but I’m experienced with how that stuff balances out.

The ramps don’t come off, they just pivot up. I built them when I bought this trailer from a solar generator company that went out of business. They are super stout, but still probably no more than 70lbs each.

I think I’m going to buy one of those weigh safe hitches that tells you your tongue weight.

Tow vehicle is fine. I’ll be taking one of the Cummins pickups. I’m leaning towards the older on because I want to stress test the south bend clutch that went in it 500 miles or so ago…

Both have new tires and suspension is very fresh. The trailer has a 10k gvwr and a 7875lb cargo cap, so I’m good there.

@Vbb199 Vince, I should mention, these ramps were the last project with my Hobart 190 before it became a dedicated aluminum spooler. It’s a quality welder and used ones are around.

Not sure if you made up your mind yet or not. One downside is it’s a dedicated 240v machine.

Those ramps will force the 'burb up or you'll have to strap them up somehow. You'll have plenty of tongue weight, maybe too much. That 6.2 is heavy as hell, you'll have to find a way to keep the burb back. I'd pull the ramps after you get it up there and then back it up some.

The ramps can’t be removed.

Take some extra ratchet straps to hold the ramps up in case the pin holes don't line up.

Those ramps are definitely well made, but that fold up style is a PITA on a car trailer. If you plan to haul a lot of cars I'd recommend making them so they slide under the trailer for storage. I did that with mine and it's super handy.

You'll have to strap the ramps to the rear bumper of the suburban. Keep in mind the suburban will bounce around on the trailer as you hit bumps. The ramps will rub against the bumper and the straps holding them will loosen up as that happens. You'll have to check them often. I had a hell of a time pulling a full size 60s oldsmobile like that once. After that I moved the ramps below the deck for storage.

I pulled my big block Suburban home on my little old trailer. Iirc, it was only 15 ft. and it did fine on the several hour drive. It was definitely a little tongue heavy, but not dangerous.
