I don't mind outter duals on the rails, but not singles. I'd have felt safer with a bed I could have removed the rails. At least have more of the tire on a surface to grip a little better. But, we do we what have to do with what we have to do it with.

I agree with you about removable rails, but alas, that was not the case.

If I had $4000, I bet I could own it. 1st thing to do would be take the sleeper off of it.

Old School, Wannabe Roll Back. Advantages are, no hydraulics to fail or maintain. You can still make some cash with a truck like this.

I could see you swapping to an OD trans too when you had enough money. Sleeper could be converted to a good toolbox.

So I'm sure some of you will remember when I was driving this truck. Loved that truck, except that it was a Ford. Loved the bed and it's equipment more than anything. Self loader, but still had a winch, slings, boom, dollies, and go jacks. I could get anything 1 ton and below with that truck with exception of I think it's 2002 and up Vettes including repos.

I really needed to stay off work, but can't afford it, sooo back at it again in this cute little roll back. Seems I'll just be a relief back up driver but that still means full time in most aspects. Supposed to be a temporary job too. 2 drivers are out, one with a surgery, and another took a temp high paying job in Colorado working on the pipeline. So the bossman was told he'd be back in 2-3 months, but he told the other employees he won't be back that he told bossman just incase he didn't like it and wanted to come back home.

I sure wasn't happy to find out this was the truck I'd be using, but I must say, it runs good, AC works good, has a stereo I can hear, cruise control works, Auto trans and even pretty clean. They don't like to drive it much. It's gas, not diesel and boy does it drink it. I'm pretty sure it's a 460. Same powertrain that was in my box van. So it shouldn't be to hard on the health related ailments to operate. No wheel lift.

Just a single car carrier with an aluminum Century deck. Good **** for the wrecker bed. It's going to take some getting used to only having 3 levers instead of 5. It does have a receiver hitch out back, so I can tow a truck and it's trailer if it has one.

Pretty nice for a Furd, you should look at it when you do your inspection of the rig to see if its a 460 with 4R70W or more than likely a C6.

Not a C6, it's an OD trans. That's what I said, for a Ferd, and the age it's a good truck. I think it's a 96 or 97 model and only has 152,000 on it. It's a bit of stiff ride empty, but pretty damn smoothe with even a little car on it. Just a clean good running easy to operate truck. Well put together too. Something I'd never seen before, the high idle is a cable all the way to the back controls to raise the idle to run the hydros. So I can raise and lower the idle without having to walk up to the cab, open the door and bump it up. My neighbors will also like this truck. My K1500 is louder than this one, so coming and going all hours of the night isn't or shouldn't wake them up like those big diesel Cat and Cummins motors did.

BTW, this truck is a 93 and is this clean and good running. Obviously well cared for and not used much to less than 153,000 on it.

What in the mutherfuk??? So this young kid driver playing dispatcher for the weekend... I just get a call at 3:02 Am. It's a AAA at 7300 S. Council Rd, and I don't remember anything else they said. Don't even know if it's a tow, lockout, tire change or wtf. I has a feeling me and bossman will be having a talk about this one. If that's the all the info Mr dispatcher can get, don't be calling me at 3am to go do it, he'll have to go do that one hisself.

Gotta love guys who think they know how to tell you how to do your job. I will admit that I am not in line for tow operator of the year, but even I know enough to evaluate multiple calls to determine where to send drivers.

I walked in the office a week ago and the AAA computer was going off. Two calls came in at the same time. One was a winch out (Possible tow) that was about 10 miles away. The other was a jumpstart 30 miles away. The office guy wanted to have me take the winch out because it was closer and I would have less OT. I shot him down and said he hadn't looked at the whole picture. The guy on duty already had the wrecker and it didn't make sense for me to wait around for him to bring it in. I assigned the calls and took off while he was scratching his head wondering what just happened.

Didn't have a choice Dawg and it's killing me. I sure hope I can fake it long enough to get a few things taken care of.

And that **** at 3:02 AM from that kid not getting info for dispatch. :flipthebird: Get all the 21 miles out there to find not a damn fukin thing. Call him back and tell him there is nothing here that I've been from the 6200 block to the 8000 block and it's pitch ass black and not a sole in sight in this industrial area. So he calls AAA and gets a bit more info, mind you, not what type of vehicle or if it's a tow, fuel delivery or anything, other than it's at Climate Master parking lot near Hobby Lobby Warehouse. *** Dude, that's the damn 4400 block wth??? Damn sure glad I know OKC Metro like the back of my hand. Drive down as far as 4000 block, NOTHING !!! I finally see a security guard at a business. I hit him up and ask if he knew where Climate Master was. Yeah buddy, go to SW 44 (Hence 4400 block) and go East about 1/2 mile. Mutherfuker !!! So it's 7300 SW 44th, NEAR Council as the damn crossstreet, not 7300 S. Council. Get there, and see a lone car in the parking lot. Drive up to it, just as I'm getting there, phone rings, it's the kid saying they cancelled that I TOOK TO LONG. *** you ************, you call me at 3:02am for this ****??? I got back home at 4:40am for not a ****** dime. Yep, me and bossman gonna be having a talk about whose dispatcher on the weekends I work. After 52 miles in a truck that seems to get 8-9 mpg a waste of $20 in fuel and my fukin sleep time. I'm pretty sure the punk was cherry pickin calls all day yesterday too. I'll be finding out when I see the board for the tows this weekend. So yeah, off to a great start back at this place !!!

I find it's the cherry pickers are the ones that don't know how to dispatch. Point is, they KNOW exactly what the *** they're doing, they're just playing dumb and trying to justify their decision so that they got the better calls.

That's some good **** though. Fukin reassign it and take off in the truck. Then don't answer your phone until you're about 2 minutes from the location and answer it and make static noises like you can't hear them. Hello?? HELLO, Can you hear me now??

The guy that tried dispatching me doesn't drive. He had no personal stake in it.

You guys don't have AAA blackberrys or anything like that? I get an after hours call for AAA and I turn on the batphone (AKA Blackberry) and I get all the info AAA has. I don't have to talk to the office or answering service after that.

It appears we do that, and going to be getting these damn GPS tablets where as long as you have that tablet, AAA knows where the hell you are at all times. It save a bunch of paperwork apparently cuz AAA then knows what time we arrived on location, and what time we dropped and cleared the call.

I know this much, they've got a whole lot more calls than they did before. I've ran my nuts off non ******* stop since Friday at 5:30pm. It appears my damn phone got shut off and not sure if I worked today or not being bossman never said, they'd been trying to call me all morning. One of the other drivers used to work with me at Fastlane, btw, the last company I worked for, ALL and I do mean ALL of their drivers are gone now. Noone left but the dad and 1 son doing it all and they're crybabying. ****'EM !!! But anyway, that guy came to my house and we called my phone and that's when I realized it was off. So I did get a couple hours of sleep this morning and been running since with that batphone you're talking about.

Sorry about the non stop business. Fortunately we typically do not get that busy here. Nice thing about the batphone is that I don't have to worry about middlemen screwing up the info. I'm glad that I don't work off commission though. I'm straight hourly during my M-F shifts and any after hours work is double time. That makes things nice on days like yesterday where I put in 8.5 hours.
