Hi,
I think I need to replace the timing cover seal on my v10 305.
Can I get a second opinion before deciding?
Are there any good instructions on how to do it with the engine still in place?

It can be done. No matter what, the oil pan needs to be loosened so it can drop down some. The old school way cuts the corners off the ends of the timing cover channel where the seal goes. It makes the getting the timing cover back on much easier. While it's out change the dampener seal while you're at it. If it were me, I would consider changing the rear seal and oil pan gasket at the same time. Of course the rear main may be easier if its two piece. Yours may be one piece.

Damper seal or pan gasket? Damper seal can be replaced without pulling pan. If pan is pulled do yourself a favor buy a one-piece gasket.
Good point. For sure, the front seal for the dampener is definitely changeable without dropping or pulling the pan.
