just out of curiosity, what does a square cost to reg annually in Michigan? mine cost $300 a year for reg here.

I guess mine will be $300 too. My '65 went up to $200! I remember when the '65 cost $56 a year and didn't need the commercial designation. But since all of my trucks are 8 lug, they're all commercial and cost more because of it. Looks like I may be selling the square to save some money in fees.

How do they handle the back fees if you sell the vehicle out of state ?

Not sure about out of state, but in state the new owner has to pay them. I got stuck with that bill back in 2005. It was my first used vehicle purchase and I never thought of that, and the seller didn't mention he owed back fees on it. He did sell it for a lower price, and after the fact I realized it was most likely because of the back fees he owed on it.

They have to pay for socialism. No mystery there. Oh, and they charge you extra so they can hire more people to make more rules to charge you more to hire more people to make more rules to....you get the idea.

It has lost a lot of the charm it had. I like watching old movies and tv shows that were set in CA and it seemed like a really cool place. I was really into skateboarding in the late 70's through the late 80's and everything was happening out there. I wanted to go out there so bad I could taste it! When I got older I watched it morph into something I was not at all interested in visiting. Too bad because I understand it's a beautiful state. I did finally make it out there a few years ago to Imperial Beach with a trip up to LA for the day. It just struck me as an over regulated mass of humanity that I didn't want to stay in any longer than I had too.

San Diego was cool though.

Ohio has historical vehicle tags. They cost 35 bucks and are good for 25 years. Or 30 years. I don't recall but they are good for a long time.

I've heard that depending on the plate, it changes when you can legally drive the vehicle. For instance re-registering the old embossed year plates are supposed to limit use to parades and car show type events, and it seems that I had heard similiar about the historical plates too. I'm sure most of it depends on local law enforcement's attitude, but I don't need to be hassled if I want to drive an antique to work in the middle of the week.

Alight, lotta Montana things I take for granted. Everything is so much simpler here, no emissions, permanent plates, no inspections, 80 mph freeways, no sales tax, and I'm sure there is more that I have no idea about yet. I guess it's no wonder we get so many Californians trying to move in.

San Diego is a cool area, but even it has succumbed to the housing boom and is overpopulated for the most part now. Nothing like Los Angeles and some other areas of the state, but still too many people for my liking. These photos show where I grew up, and it is still small to this day. Dry as a bone, though, because of the LA Aqueduct that sucks as much water from the ground as possible.

It's gone, lost. If you look on AZ and NV craigslists, you'll see a bunch of Cali vehicles for sale.

I’ve seen some vehicles in Cali hat were cheaper than they are in Georgia
And the Cali vehicles are usually rust free

I’ve bought a couple of old cars from NC , where you gotta have a title for old cars , Georgia doesn’t require a title if it’s more than 20 years old
The Ga DMV wants a bill of sale and they check the car to see the VIN and to see if the name on the bos is the same as the last registered owner , and they check for Liens and run it against the stolen car list
Then GA will issue a registration form and a license plate


Some good cars sell
Cheap in NC if they don’t have a title
As long as it’s not stolen , I don’t care if it has a title or not

That looks like a very cool place. Too bad you guys have to be ruled by the fools on the coast. I predict there is going to be a breaking point with the idiocy out there and I don't think it's going to very long from now.
