In MIchigan our registrations can be based on GVRW, a truck that big would cost me 600 per year to register. I haven't looked into it enough to figure out how to get around it, and I don't have the space to mess with it anyway.

But it's fun to dream lol.
You can buy the declared GVW plates monthly, quarterly, semi annual or annual. It makes it a bit better for a seasonal business.

I was previously unaware that anything within this MSB was geared towards "practicality".

Is that really what you're all about? Who talked you out of it? because that

:shitsweak:

what does MSB stand for? I don't know all the acronyms people use online. I just figured out what iirc and fwiw meant.

it would be too expensive to operate commercially based on my insurance and CDL...and yes, if it effects my work or money, I take practicality seriously. i'm not into losing money unless it's something that's strictly a toy.

my buddy talked me out of it. he schooled me on gvw and classification of licensure. there's a lot I didn't know.

Model years 83 and older are based on weight, 84 and newer are based on value. So my 79 is 37 dollars.

I imagine you have alot more miles of roads though. NOt really sure that plate registration fee's are strictly designated for road funding though.

I actually haven't registered any of my squares, which is something they have to do in California. You can't just leave something unplated there like we can here.

I just went off the chart for the price on my 79.

we can do a paid non op (PNO). it doesn't cost much and it's a one time fee until your ready to reregister the vehicle. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to make it more expensive though.

Yeah, but that's a catch I learned when I lived there, if someone didn't do that, a cheap vehicle could owe thousands in back fees and they won't let you do anything with it until they are paid.

My Camaro hasn't been tagged since 99, and I don't owe a thing for it lol. But, give it time.

They have to pay for socialism. No mystery there. Oh, and they charge you extra so they can hire more people to make more rules to charge you more to hire more people to make more rules to....you get the idea.

How do they handle the back fees if you sell the vehicle out of state ?
