Eh, I feel like a stupid purchase I made was a 84 k10 4x4, 6.2D. Had a cooked trans and t case in it. Paid 800,
Got another trans, put it in, didn't set the TV cable right, cooked it.
Put in ANOTHER one the following week, did set the TV cable right. But it didnt like low 4x4.
Bought a 4 speed with a figure 8 205 for it, never swapped it.
Truck didn't see 1 day of on the road driving. Felt like that was a really useless and stupid endevour altogether.

Including the 6.5TD heads, turbo, intake manifold ecte etc I purchased for it. Really became a waste of my time, and money.

Another is two 80's model jetskis. Seadoo. Can't recall the CC's,
One had no engine. But a clean title, the other had a engine that needed a jug and piston, but no title.
I fiddled with it for 1 or 2 days, and theyve sat in my back yard for the last 3 years.
Biggest waste of 100$ lol

On the other hand, I bought a Virago 700 out of a guy's storage unit for $200, let it sit in my garage for 3 years, took parts off of the bike and sold it for $850

So it's a two-way street

I am starting to feel that way about my 87 v20. I paid $1000 for it. Which is too much considering the shape it was in. I am going to soon focus on it again but I know I would have been much better off just buying a 3/4 ton that was ready. I have swapped out the steering column un it that was completely shot from one of my parts trucks. And I converted the worn out drums in back to disc. But I still need to put in new fuel tanks and pumps. Put a box on it (which I have a decent box for it), put bumpers on it. Turn up. Etc And at least change the rusted out drivers door. But like I say. I wish I would have just bought one that was ready and let someone else fix this one. I am going to get started on it again soon while I am laid off for the winter. We will see. Maybe I will have a decent 3/4 ton for $3000 but most likely I will blow way past that number.

My 87 r10 is the complete opposite. That was an excellent purchase and I love driving it. But I need a 3/4 ton to move my camper. Wish my 1/2 ton could do it. But zero chance of that.

I dont want to mess with it. I love how a stock 2wd half ton rides. I dont want it to ride rough. It's my cruiser. Not something I want to haul much with. But I hear what your saying and it's a good idea in a different situation. The idea for me has always been to have a half ton cruiser that I drive all the time and a 3/4 ton that I just use for pulling or loading the box. That's my plan anyway

How big is the camper? You could do airbags and just deflate for cruising around.
