i'll probly do this and also run it under my seat to were i will have the amps(mabey run 2 wires. 3k+ watts might draw a bit) then on top of that. i still want to run a few KC's.

3000+? people usually dont realize but 3000 watts will get only 10 decibels more than 300. what will you use it for? it probably isnt necessary

Show truck? As stated above, seems a bit excessive.

I did the final step this morning...added the extra wire from the alt + to the battery+. Truck fired up in about 2 revs, apposed to the normal 5 to 7 for a cold start after sitting over night.
Ran like a new vortec after that.

That's cool !!! Most of these Big 3 gurus claim to have had voltage gains which means better stable power to things like fuel pumps and starters, and even ignitions systems and ECM's. Glad to see someone with positive results. As said I fully intend to do it for off-Road lighting, winch and ARB air locker air compressor additions.

I did this on my '86 and it helped tremendously. Of course the 140 amp Powermaster alt didn't hurt.

I installed conversion headlights that used H4 bulbs and also had 6 KC's. Plus the hard hitting stereo system. Electrical system didn't even flinch after the Big 3.

lol be careful most speakers cant handle that

Sure they can. Sub's in a pairs can, and power can be split too. And speakers for sure can handle 300 and 400 watts. All depends on your system design.

Both fronts max at 200w(400 pair) 300 is safe, Rear230w(460) 400 is safe, Subs 1500w(3k) 2800 is safe.

I have thought this all out already. Just need to rack up the money to buy the rest of the stuff.

Mine is running great! Just drove her around the hood, fired right up, quick as yeterday.
I guess my 86 primary power wire from the starter was not enough to acommodate the newer EFI systems.

i realize all of that. but most speakers only tell you the max wattage, which is really a useless number. what you need to know is the rms wattage, sometimes called watts nominal, which is the safe amount your speakers can constantly handle. speaker manufactures will just give a large max wattage to make their speakers seem good. one such example is a pioneer ts-a6994r. it says 600 watts max but is only 80 watts rms. besides, i dont know of many subs, even in pairs, that could handle 2800 watts and also fit in a square

may i ask what speakers those are? not tryin to be a pain, just dont want ya spendin a ton just to end up blowing your speakers. as i said to hotrod, i doubt the speakers could handle that.
