Tailgate handle issues!

Bought a brand new tailgate and wanted to install it, bolts for the handle were frozen solid, so bought an impact tool and got two of the three out fully but the last one is about half way out but now spins freely! So I'm thinking the part where the screw goes through the handle has broken, anyone have a spare fat style tailgate handle sitting around? Seems all I can find are for newer tailgates. The handles are skinny and wider than mine!

I never realized there was a difference in handles. I'm having issues with my latches on my C20 tailgate too. I'll be having to look into this shortly. I have finally got it to latch and stay latched but now can't get it to open.

Sounds like your linkage rods have stretched out or are disconnected.

Got mine apart and the new gate on! Just needs some slight modification or grinding for better fitment.

Looks good! Do you happen to know if there is an adjustment in the tailgate? Mine wont latch the left side unless I push it all the way in and push the handle shut.

There is no adjustment at all. You latch catches might be worn. I ended up doing a tailgate repair write up last week.

Sometimes you have to adjust the brackets where the tailgate locks on to but other than those and the bottom brackets that hold the tailgate on are the only adjustment areas.
