I am trying to find out why all of my gauges on the dash don't work other than my speedo. Came to find out that there were some weird wires with connections that seem to go nowhere. I have found these connections of multiple wires for the headlights as well, so I'm not sure if this is factory or not. The coolant temp wire wasn't hooked up but everything else seemed to be. Can you guys let me know if I am crazy or the previous owner messed around with the wiring. Any help is appreciated. thanks

I'm not going to be too much help, but I can at least tell you the sensor with the red box is for the Aux fan IFO the radiator that 454 trucks with the tow package come with. My current truck did not have the tow package, but I've had 3 others that did. I believe this is basically a ground the closes the circuit above 215 degrees.

I'm sure some of that wiring is for the electric choke. FYI, the Emissions laws changed 1/1/85. My truck was produced 11/84 and has 1984 emissions on it. You may have different a different wiring set up than early production trucks. I know mine did not come with an electric choke and had a single smog pump.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering what that sensor was because on the opposite side has the same type of sensor(I'm assuming the coolant temp). The (green) wire is piggybacked off the drivers side and goes to I'm assuming that aux fan.

Those two connectors look like they go to the AIR diverter so I’m assuming your PO yanked the smog pump out. The little sender in the head is for the temp gauge, but you don’t need two.

Actually you do if your truck has the factory auxiliary fan. The driver side is for the temp gauge, the passenger is for the fan. They have 2 different part numbers

Ahh, I didn’t know that one afore. Sorry about the erroneous info, OP.
