Hey All!

In going down the proverbial rabbit hole with the tailgate I pulled out the regulator to clean/lube and the tailgate switch because it didn't work.

In lubing up the regulator, has anyone ever used SLIP Plate (graphite spray) on the geared pieces? I think the rollers should still get some lithium grease..or has anyone used ceramic brake grease?

On the switch, I found out why it wasn't working- one of he contacts snapped off. In looking for a new piece I see they want $100 for it, to which I would rather not pay!

I'm guessing I could solder the connection back? Maybe epoxy it in as well for holding power? Anyone know the best way to repair this?

THANKS!!

The Slip Plate certainly won't hurt anything, but I'm not sure how long it will last, in a metal on metal scenario.

I'd definitely try to solder that tab back on.

Update on the switch part…

I used a 2mm brass screw to reattach the tab (my soldering skills have always been suspect)..I then stacked some of the nuts on the backside and ground them down with dremmel to get more or less the correct diameter for the lead to attach..

I didn't have a key for mine, but I still have the guts just in case. Now I'm really glad I have it. Ordered a keyed alike set from Jegs. $95 for the tailgate and both front doors.
