My steering wheel was brown and gross in my car when I got it, and a good scrub with those Armor All upholstery wipes did the trick.

The plastic rubber material GM used decomposes and turns to a sticky goo in many cases. It seems like heat and lack of air flow do the most damage. Trucks that sit for any length of time seem to develop the worst sticky stuff.

Mine was sticky like that also. Used a good rubbing of alcohol. Use plenty and worked well after 2 or 3 cleanings. We use 99 percent at work. 70 percent that you get from pharmacy may work, just might take longer.

If the chems don't release it... 50 grit sandpaper the crap off. If I was you (I would be more handsome) I would begin looking for a replacement.
