I installed this Skyjacker steering stabilizer and torqued to the specified 65 ft-lbs, however since it is a tapered fit, I was unsure if it should sit flush against the drag link. I can't recall if the old one did and the instructions are unclear. Any advice on if this is fine?

I can take a peek at mine tonight, just installed it recently as well.

At any rate I would think there is some play there as long as you keep an eye on lose play every once in awhile. I've removed shocks that looked damn near like they were at 45 degree angles!

I appreciate it. The bolt on the back side has all the threads engaged so I'm not to concerned but just wanted to see if I should overtorque it to pull the taper fit in further and then retorque or if that's how it's designed

If the taper is fully seated, over torquing it will do no good at all. That stud ain't strong enough to reform the hole in the tie rod.

When the taper is fully seated everything it's ok. When you loosen the nut the bolt should sit tight in the tapered hole and need force to remove it (like tie rods)
If it's coming loose easy check if the taper angles match or if something else is interfering.

My apologies, completely missed the actual question.

I will look at mine tonight but do believe that stud seats all the way into the drag link.
