Steering column?

Hi, dumb question but I was going to buy a factory style steering column unit to replace my original. They say they take old cores, but mine is pretty parted on the outside but insides are 110,000 miles and nothing wrong with them. Would they still take it? If so I think I’d get a discount but I forgot. It’s off my 1981 Silverado half ton.

I just wanted to replace everything I could mechanically is all

What are you working on? Tilt or standard column? Automatic or floor shift? Three on the tree? Three speed or four speed? What year? Give us some idea and the flood gates will open!

You don't like the tilt? Something is wrong with it? What? Want to keep the tilt column but shift on the floor? What? Want a standard column with shift on the floor? What? Have shift on the column, but has problems? What? Can't shift it anymore, something broke? Or like one guy was having a problem after putting in a standard column, he brought the tilt ignition switch over to the standard column and found the ignition switch pattern was reversed from the ignition pattern he had when it was a tilt column. The pattern IS reversed from a standard to a tilt. Or what Steve? Need lots more info, pics!
