Nice work. I like the old camper mounts on the front fenders. Back in the day, I had thought about buying a set of those and using them to mount some Daylighters in that location.

IFS or not, that's pretty cool.

Also, I've got those exact same ramps.

I paid 10 bucks for the ramps and a 25' log chain at an estate sale. It was a good buy.

I should have pulled the camper mounts off the bed before i scrapped it.

The IFS has never let me down. 208k and it still has the original cv shafts and lower ball joints. I've got an 8' fisher for it too. I turned the torsion bars up some.

Getting there.

Not sure why the guy doing this with the 68 cab didn't just get a stake bed the correct length for the frame he had. Would've been much easier.

Got it mostly done now. I have a few issues but I'm driving it. The paint match is about perfect, just as long as the truck is dry.

That's a lot of frame and junk visible under the body...front is only about a foot too tall.
If all you need is a good frame, head south and southwest, plenty of 'em here!

I was trying to find this thread a while back, but couldn't remember the OP's name.

This is my truck. I lost my old login credentials so I started a new username. I still have it and it has just under 300k on it. Folks are shocked when I show them the Dmax under the hood. And to this day the only negative feedback I've gotten about the swap was on this forum, on this thread...

Just ignore the negative feedback, there's always going to be some people that disapprove, you just happened to run across them here unfortunately.

Glad you are still posting here!

The rear mounts were easy. Square body cabs have the mounts inboard from the frame rails. I made a cross member and welded it in place. Admittedly I take crappy pictures and never think to document the progress.

The front cab mounts were not bad either. The newer frame is wider than the square frame. I made up some new brackets on the frame and moved the mounts on the cab outboard. The new mounts are on the factory square floor brace. In the pic the mount is just tacked. I boxed it in and reinforced the area. I also left the floor pans out during this fab process. Thats why there is weirdo lighting and you can see the rivet holes from the previous patch job. Once I was satisfied with the new mounts I welded the new pans in.

Keep in mind I'm just a jackass with a welder and a measuring tape. Its legit been 7 years and nearly 100k miles, so I'd say my job was at least adequate.

I also kept all the original brackets on the frame. Maybe in 20 years I'll put an 05 cab back on it.
