not a great one but something cheaper on gas. 2k ply. voyager 4 banger, has a bad trans. My uncle had it, drove it to work and trans went out on us one day. My uncle owe's me for working with him, so I'm taking the van for partial payment, then my old man is buying it from me on payments.

Thing seems to be tough to find a trans for, said the 4 cyl. was uncommon and makes it harder to find.

So this may be my first trans rebuild. it's my first front wheel drive vehicle I'd ever worked on.

Probably gonna tow it home sometime this weekend I guess.

I had a handfull of the late 80's, fuel injected, square bodied ones, most of the 4cyl, and one v-6. I really enjoyed those ones, but the trannys and the heads are junk. But they rode great and took a beating otherwise. I never liked the newer ones, don't like the egg shape of them.

yea my uncle drove it for a work van for quite some time then it started slipping and finally went out last winter.

New ones from autozone run $1100-1300 and my old man don't have that kinda coin, no local yards have any, they are the ones who said it's hard to find. Found some on ebay for around $800 shipped still alot of coin for the old man tho.

He wants this to save gas and travel because his squarebody c10 is killing him on gas, plus he's gonna change rear end gears to make it more fun, from 2.73's to 3.90 for an around town street truck.

Daym, they must be hard to find then. I haven't shopped around for them for quite a while. You try getting a price from a local shop to bench re-build it?

Know of any FWD mopar forums? You may be able to use the whole setup from a Neon or PT Loser.

yea that could be possible. I asked about what auto trans would drop in and they said it may be possible to use a neon or such.

according to junkyard swap manuals though it's 2k only caravan or voyager, and some say 96-00. others say 00-02.

my old man just wants something quick and easy for this, throw it in, it work and be on the road. Then he's gonna build his truck, again LOL.
