@Grit dog a few weeks ago put up a post about something funny going on with some fuel they had in a can. I was prowling around the internet looking for I don't remember what. But ran across an article stating that the government and oil companies got a bunch of exemptions allowing them to up the ethanol content from 10 percent to 15 percent. That's supposed to have ended last summer, but who knows,is all the 15 percent gone? Have they started selling it again without telling us? IDK. It is something to think about.

All the pumps in my area still have the 15% ethanol stickers. With all of the push to eliminate fossil fuels I can’t imagine 100% gas being the norm ever again.

Down here the pumps are labeled ethanol blend or no ethanol. I thought the law was they couldn't use more than 10 percent so, when I saw the article about the exemptions and using 15 percent I was alarmed.

I think up to 15% is allowed now. Would expect it to be posted somewhere on the pump. 15% is about the max that computers can adjust for without going lean, provided everything is operating properly.

This is one reason why ethanol fuel should never be used in power equipment, no automatic mixture adjustment.

There is an easy way to check ethanol content by adding water to a measured amount of fuel. I have several vehicles that aren't ethanol compatible. I verified non-ethanol and ethanol myself.

I feel the required pump labeling and whether it is current is something that has been neglected for a while.
That said, my issue was with 2stroke pre mix with AV gas. And it was the metal can as I made a new jug of premix in a plastic can with the same gasoline and it’s been good for months now.
I did luck out filing the car recently. Getting premium and it had the unmistakable smell of ethanol free gas!

My 2011 Suburban is a flex-fuel 5.3, so it has the adjustable fuel pump assembly from the supercharged CTS-V and an ethanol content sensor from the factory. The 87 Octane here in Oregon and on almost all of the trips I've taken over the last few years along the west coast and through Idaho and Utah all showed right around 9-11% Ethanol content. The flex fuel vehicles have the sensor and tuning parameters to adjust fuel flow and AFR based on ethanol content.

I remember when they first started adding the corn squeezing they didn't even tell us. For the first time my carb started leaking... Resealed it with a kit I had on the shelf. Learned the hard way why that fix wasn't permanent.
