Should I Drive My Truck To OBX For Our Annual Beach Vacation

Should I drive my truck to the OBX for our vacation and 4x4 on the beach or not risk it?

  • No, don't put the miles on it and expose it to beach elements.

Just an old double opening, screw on the hose type that shoots water upwards under the rig. Run it for 5 minutes, move the rig forward or backward the right amount how ever many times you need to get the full coverage...............Jeez, Taylor it ain't rocket science..........lol

You should go for it!
I take my square on the beach every chance I get, and when I get home I rinse the crap out of it. So far so good.

Yes take it! I've been wanting to take mine to the beach too. It's about a 45 minute drive but haven't done it yet. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday. Wanna bring ruckus too and try his new seatbelt out. Lol

Kinda nervous because I've never driven either one that far yet.

Have taken mine to Bonneville a few times, way more salt, wash the heck out of it when I got home. The guys down there have some spray on stuff they use B-4 going out, but I don't know what it is. Hey man, make some memories, enjoy your family, then wash her down.
Anybody know what you can use to protect from salt, or if there are any wash off coatings ? - we want to head out to the salt lakes for speedweek, but didn't want to kill the dooly doing it !.. My biggest worry is salty water sitting inside folded seams or box sections ( I know alkali neutralises acid, but does anything neutralise salt ? ) - or maybe I just take a Ford ......

Wow, some of yall are pretty salt paranoid! Are you guys actually splashin thru the saltwater and soaking the truck or just hand-wringing over some brackish air? Sheesh. They lasted 6-8 full winters before rusting out back in the Midwest. Just go to the beach already….

PS I’d totally do that but the nearest beach you can drive on here is a couple hour drive and the Freedom Wagon drinks premium like an alchoholic and rides like a lumber wagon!
And it ain’t got no stereo yet!
