Most of the (we're talking Chevy here) factory produced blocks for the past few decades are high nickel alloy as a weight saving design.. There is a bit of extra strength but not enough to rave about.. The last 3 digits of the casting number 010 originally designated 4 bolt main arrangement.. I can't begin to count the number of 010s I've come across that were 2 bolts.. Unless one is shooting for the moon horse power, a 2 bolt block would probably serve purpose.. I've built countless 383 cid Chevys based on 2 bolt blocks.

@Honky Kong jr in that there's not much in the line of mods done to an engine that will equal increasing the displacement..
