Around here, they are getting harder to find, especially the 8-lug stuff. I believe the average 8-lug front is $300-400 now.
I would be happy with 300-400 44 in 4:10 I need to find one first :)

I really not interested in 1200 junk yard 44. I called a few of the local yards and no one had what I was looking for. 8 bolt 73-87

I am in the hunt now for a 60.

I will Probally change out the hubs/spindles backing plate to see if I can run 8 lugs on my 10 bolt till I find a good price 44 with the gears I need.Or a 60 at a price I can live with.
hope you're not wanting a Dana 44 thinking it's better than the 10 bolt. It's really only better in one area, the 10 bolt is better in another and I forget what those differences are but really, as plentiful as 10 bolts are, and as long as you have a set up for 8 lug, then you can put any 10 bolt you find, even in a 6 lug, and convert it over. I've got 2 10 bolt fronts that were given to me for just pulling them and I sure did. Wasn't letting them go to scrap and since I"m going to end running a 10 bolt and converting to 8 lug, then I have a back up 10 bolt 6 lug if I break it, or just spare axles or whatever I break I can rob from the back up donor. That's JMO, I'd just stick with the 10 bolt til you found the right Dana 60 at the right price and skip the Dana 44 nonsense unless one just landed in your lap for to cheap. @bucket and other 4x4 gurus on here could confirm or deny my opinion and info.

I’m thinking the 10 bolt are 44 are basically the same. Only difference would be I think the 44 has flat knuckles I can machine for crossover steer.

What I’m looking for is 8 lug 4:10

It’s Probally cheaper to get a new 44 front axle than buying hubs rotors spindle and whatever to convert my 10 bolt to 8 lug and then change out my gears to 4:10

i would do this now unless the Dana 60 fairy drops one in my lap. Im looking online at boneyards in FL but have not found one yet

I may have seen the wrong numbers

Is this the tag I should be looking at?

The front shaft is on the correct (passenger) side

Here are a couple pictures of the case

Thank you guys

The only issue I see is that the underside of your truck is way too clean. It will not function properly if it's not covered with grease and dirt. Noob.

I know what you mean about the Dana 60. To bad you're in FL. There's many more fairies in CA, mainly the San Fransico area if you know whutta mean. But they're probably more likely to sit in your lap than drop a Dana 60 in your lap so you're probably just as well be in FL.

I don’t even think this truck is legal to even visit CA

Came clean. Once I get the axles figured out I’m going to dirty her up. EXCEPT the headers they have to stay shiny

The flat top passenger side knuckle went away after '75 or '76. So there are D44's out there without them.

Nope, it has a gas engine. Cali illegal. Well, just about that bad. My trucks and my guns is why I will never live in Cali again. Not even consider it.
