What Make, Model, and year Cars, trucks, and SUV seats will fit in the square body trucks?

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere that lists what sets will match up to the mounting holes on these trucks?

I want to get something that reclines slightly (I know there's only so much I can get, given the space restrictions), and also folds forward...

Ideally, it would be a bench seat that has the feel of two bucket seats, perhaps with a fold down center armrest deal...

What should I be on the look out for? Or can I use pretty much any truck seats I can find and adapt them? Is that a big deal? Basically, I'm asking how to approach this problem to get from point "A" where I am now, to point "B" what I'm describing as to where I want to be

Maybe this'll help. The only thing that's gonna be a sensible fit are square body seats. The earlier GMT400 60/40 benches would look fairly authentic, but those might be a study in hackery to get them right.

Well, that's encouraging.. Answered my question about whether some of the aftermarket universal seats can be used..

So basically, it's just a matter of finding pretty much any seats I like, either on line or at a wrecking yard, and then I'll probably be fabbing up some custom brackets no matter what I do..

I would agree with that. Blazer/Jimmy/Suburban/Crew Cab bucket seats and a center console would be nice. You might like a 40/60 bench seat. That's why I suggested the GMT400 split bench. It should be a mechanical one. I would have suggested a split bench from a Caprice, and those should have a lower profile, but those have an electronic transmission. Unless, of course, that might be something you want. I haven't seen it done myself, but that doesn't mean anything.

I'll tell you what I want to see someone do if it's possible, is get a 2012 Ford XLT seat to fit in a square. Talk about comfort. I have the worst back ever. The last tow truck I was driving was the **** for my back. Not to mention I was out of a medium duty and wasn't climbing steps to get in and out of it, but that seat I could drive the long drives and still be in tolerable pain instead of excruciating pain like I am after 20-30 minutes of anything else. Not sure what other years before and after have the same seat.

I don't even know. Pretty sure it's a year model thing too. Like, the GMT400 series 88 to 98 GM Trucks, are narrower than squarebody IIRC.

It seems to me at one time I seen a thread somewhere where someone put a 2010 or 2011 Ford SD seat in a Square. At the time I thought you damn breed jumpin' trader so I didn't pay much attention. Then a couple years later this boss says, hey come to work for me, I bought you that truck you wanted. I went and looked and it said WTF, I didn't say I wanted a fukn Ford dude. So I didn't go to work for him for about 2 months after he bought this truck for me until I started having paycheck problems with my current employer so I jumped ship and went and got in the junky ass Peterstroke Ford. Bossman was just about to sell the truck cuz he wouldn't let anyone else drive it. It was like a brand new truck even though it was used. All it took was about 3 hours of driving that truck and doing 4 tows I fell in love with that bitch. I would have wanted a Dodge with a Cummins 6.7 and a Vulcan self loader bed, and I don't like Ford, and I don't like Jerr Dan beds. Now, if I were to buy my own tow truck, it would be a Ford F450 or F550 with the 6.7 Powerstroke, not the 6.0 or 6.4, and a Jerr Dan MPL-NGS self loader bed on it. I might add, the original owner of the truck was the bossman and owner of his company so it was his truck and it was well cared for and not worked hard, plus he had the DEF deleted when he had it chipped. Damn that truck would fly. That truck hauls ass. I might end up back in it some day soon.

I remember you mentioning those seats before. I think they are '11 to '16. I hate them uncomfortable sons a bitches. God I hate them. The company had 6 of those trucks, now down to 2 of them. Thankfully we are getting all the decent crew cab C4500-C7500 trucks we can find. Those good ol fashioned bucket seats are downright comfy.

The saying is there's an ass for every seat. But not every ass is comfy in any seat.

You might be right. With my bad back, they hit me just right. Otherwise, the only other seat that works for me, is the 18 way power heated memory GMT800 seats with power lumbar and adjustable pedals. It takes me awhile to get it comfy but once I get it just right, then I hit the memory button. That's why when I was married, I had to have a LT model truck. If the wife drove she fuct up my seat and it took forever to get it right. Not with Driver 1 and Driver 2.

The only other seat I liked alot was in a Peterbuilt with it's adjustments and the air ride set just right. Enough firmness, but air cushioned just enough but not be to bouncy and absord all the shock. Hated to see that truck go too.

The more research I do, the more I realize that I can pretty much go to the junk yard and just pick out any seats I like from just about anything.. Just measure things.. That, the seat mounts currently in the truck can be adapted to any seat as long as there isn't some sort of seat riser under the seat itself that makes the seat too high (because of the tank hump in the cab floor)...

So, I guess I just go down to pic and pull and have a look around with a couple hundred bucks in my pocket and try to come home with as much of it as I can... can even mix and match buckets from one vehicle to center console/fold down seat from another...

Some of the later model seats are pretty nice.. and people are getting them pretty cheap.. at least in other parts of the country.. I guess I'll find out how it is here when I go looking...

The newer they are, the more likely I am to find a competitive price on pre made reupolstery for them...
