All distributors do not have the same rate of advance,or maximum amount of advance,all vacuum advances do not come in at the same vacuum nor do they all have the same amount of advance All carburetor vacuum ports are not the same. All compression ratios,flame travels etc. are not the same.So when you have a mystery carb. and a mystery distributor,you have to determine where timing needs to be,which I can walk you through after your other issue is solved. You do know GM had 100s of different dist. combinations.Right?

That's fine, so long as the tank is still able to vent. IE , If the vent line is plugged from the tank, the cap needs to vent. Just trying to throw some different thoughts out there.

I’m also a little confused about the process of using a vacuum gauge as a fuel pressure gauge.

Air compresses, liquid does not.

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or be a smart ass, but I’m starting to feel like a dumb ass.

I feel like I’m missing something very obvious, and it’s my lack of communication that is preventing anyone from noticing what’s wrong.

So now I am over communicating, hoping that will help, but it seems to be just aggravating some people.

You are missing something obvious!!!!!,you've changed the fuel pump 37 times, there's your clue.Whats going on there,you didn't have that many bad pumps.I would want to know what's going on there, so I can decide if it's related to what's going on now.

Take the steel line off at the carb use a piece of rubber line and clamps to clamp the gauge to the line. Crank for 20 seconds with a remote starter switch or a friend. Post your reading. 2nd Take a piece of hose, clamp it to the line put the hose into an empty clear bottle, friend or remote switch cran for 30 seconds you should get about 6oz of fuel.
