rotating assemblies

I've heared about scat, and eagle, what are some suggestions on a 383 stroker kit rotating assembly. I've got a two main seal block and getting the machine work done. Just can't decide which to go with. Have heard good and bad with both.

I'd go with a Scat, all they're machine work is done in house and it's quality, unless they've changed Eagle's machine work sucks.

Speed Pro has always been good stuff used a lot of it, gotta be careful with those pistons though, they are strong but brittle they don't absorb shock and detonation will turn them into crystals quick seen quite a few like that, and ring end gap is very critical..

That's an Eagle crank, make sure you measure the crank real close..

Naturally. Mic the journals, snap-gauge the bearings, and if everything checks out, plasti-guage the assembly. Then check end-play.

I used a $600-something Eagle balanced assembly for my mild 355, and I know a guy who has used their similarly-priced 383 kits with zero problems. However, it's probably not something I'd use for frequent visits to 5500 RPM.:)

For a high RPM engine, I think the SCAT stuff is better, especially if you use their 9000 crank. I'd also recommend bushed rods and pistons with floating pin retainer clips. My Eagle kit has pressed-in pins, but at least Eagle did that for me, and they were perfectly centered.

Eagle and Scat raw forgings all come from the same foundry, it's the machine work that makes the difference.
