Just have to carefully mask them with fresh, quality masking tape. Old and/or cheap stuff often leaves residue behind.

"Trim black" type spray paint will be a good match for the black. The yellow may be harder to match, something like New Caterpillar yellow might be close.

Yup, I maked and sprayed my black and very carefully hand painted the yellow. My clear is a bit hazey but I didn't feel like stripping it off and buffing the caps so I went with it.

To go a step further you could use some fine line tape around your edges, then tape off using some green 3m 1" tape then use a razor blade or exacto knife to cut out the green tape from around the fine line areas, then spray and clear, then pull the tape and fine line off! Could even clear over the whole cap then band paint the yellow or any other color you might want like body color or interior color.

Not so permanent but plastidip is a good alternative since you can easily remove the overspray.

Powdercoat would outlast spray paint, especially on aluminum.

I use a wide tipped Sharpie (the new "Extreme Permanent Marker") to touch up any little scratches. It makes a very good match and hangs tight - for as long as I have been doing it anyway:
