I have a 4 core waiting to be installed in Crusty Biscuit. I'll have to modify the cradles for the bigger tanks, but better cooling is a must in the triple digits temps, especially when it'll be a vortec setup. I'm keeping an eye on the electric fan installations I see on various threads so I can add that too. Had the radiator reconditioned at a local shop for $95 out the door. I take all my raditaors to them and they've always been reasonable and do good work. $260 seems steep, but it's like new and fits like it's supposed to without modifications.

I've been back and forth in my head about the fan setup for my truck. I've yet to find an e-fan that will cover the radiator cleanly. I thought about cutting my oem shroud to accept a fan but the oem hole is ~22" circle for this size radiator. that means the fan has to be at least that height to cover the existing hole with a 30ish" x 22" rectanglular cutout.

i decided to get a clutch fan that will fit the oem shroud for now until I can find an e-fan that fits for less than $300, if possible. it keeps me from hacking up my shroud. If I remember correctly, they take ~7hp according to engine masters. I think a 45 amp e-fan would take less than 1 hp through the high amp alternators required to run all this extra stuff.

I've considered the fan clutch route too. I have to get one for a 327 since they didn't have 350's back then, but the blocks are the same so it shouldn't matter as long as it is centered in the shroud opening and the fan is the correct size. Having less parasitic HP loss is a good thing. I never thought of the alternator. I'll have to see what the parts store has for my application since I switched it over to one-wire when I replaced the harness. I don't want to alter the shroud, so I'll have to mount it in front of the radiator or find one the fits inside the mounting size of the shroud.

I was just thinking, my 2010 Denali XL has dual E-fans (6.2L w/ HD cooling, Rated 403 Hp, 417 Lb-Ft.) one is a 9 blade the other a 7. From GM (#15780789) it's about $220. I can get you the measurements if interested.

My motor was a 327 that I just pulled. It had a direct drive fan. The clutch has only 30-50% of the power loss that the direct fan has, so either way it’s an upgrade in my book.

True. When the dimensions are posted I can check my setup.

Here's the dimensions. FYI the picture I posted is actually upside down. The circular mounts are actually at the top of the assembly.

The total width at the outside of the circular mounts is 35"
Those mounting holes are 32.5" on center
20.5" tall
About 3.75" deep from the face of the radiator to the back of the fan motors.

those dimensions seem to be perfect. at $220 for an oem gm piece, that may be the way to go. going to have to pull the trigger on a 175 amp alternator I've been eyeballing. I'm going to measure to confirm in the morning.

Thanks!
