Not if he reuses the external engine parts it is. Meaning vortec block with TBI setup. I have that in a 90 c2500.

i too have a Vortec longblock in a TBI truck. Performer RPM intake, and EGR eliminated. runs damn good, will do lots better when i get the tune nailed down though. don't expect it to run on a stock PCM though, you'll need it tuned for sure.

I have one that may not be drilled/tapped, or it doesn't have the mounts altogether... I can't remember which. But the '88 block in my '86 Camaro doesn't have the mounts for it at all.

truck block then... by 88 you couldn't get a car small block without a roller cam.

you never get gaskets with timing sets. You have to buy the gasket for it, like a timing change kit or cam kit etc.

But $70? are the roller timing sets that much more expensive?

Yep. I got it from Napa. Pep Boys wanted $65 out of stock, Autozone was $50-60 out of stock. Napa was out of stock but could have one the next day. Pepboys and autozone said it would take a week to get one.

Yes, I didn't specify. My only point was that not all the '87-up blocks have roller provisions.
