No. Vortec heads have a different bolt pattern for the intake manifold, so the stock intake will not bolt on. Also, Vortec heads do not have an exhaust crossover, which is why the EGR will not work unless you rig some parts up. If you did not have to deal with these issues, then you don't have a Vortec motor ('96-'00).

You need to rethink your theory. TBI heads will bolt on a vortec block. Same bolt pattern. He would have to reuse the intake and heads. If dont believe ask HRPC.

I mis-understood you. I thought you meant use the Vortec heads too. But you just used the shortblock... Gotcha:birgits_tiredcoffee

why so big on going to the vortec block then?

No real gains except for it being roller cam. The vortec power makers are the heads, and those do require things to work. The block aint much different then a 80's or 70's or whatever block, except for what I said above, roller cam. The 87-95 blocks are setup for them too or hae them.

Not all of them. Truck blocks often don't have the provisions for it.

I was under the impression all 87-95's were cast for it, but some were not fully drilled or not tapped. I know mines an 87-95 block in my truck and it is fully setup for roller cam.

tear it apart and look. I heard some are not fully drilled, some are not tapped, some are fully setup, so for the 87-95's you'd have to take it apart and look. Mines fully setup on the top end and cam front, but not sure if mines fully machined for mech. FP or not.

I have one that may not be drilled/tapped, or it doesn't have the mounts altogether... I can't remember which. But the '88 block in my '86 Camaro doesn't have the mounts for it at all.

Jasper is junk in GM products. Crate is good in GM products. Jasper is good in fords though. Get a crate vortec block and re use all the external parts.

Jasper is junk period. they take junk engines, replace only what is wrong with it, put a shiny coat of paint on it, and the overcharge you for it.
