R4 to Sanden whith stock ac lines(for serpantine)

This is most up to date drawing I have for the brackets. The middle hole can be not drilled until test fitted to allow for small variations.

Is this the factory bracket, or another bracket that has to be fabricated?

Installed the Sanden on my 91 Suburban today. Used the parts referenced in this thread. Ordered r4 to sanden mounting kit from http://www.dirtydingo.com. Had to bend the hardline a little to clear the valve cover. Hooked up the vacuum pump and pulled a vacuum, and it held for over an hour so I think I’m good to charge it now.

Installed the Sanden on my 91 Suburban today. Used the parts referenced in this thread. Ordered r4 to sanden mounting kit from http://www.dirtydingo.com. Had to bend the hardline a little to clear the valve cover. Hooked up the vacuum pump and pulled a vacuum, and it held for over an hour so I think I’m good to charge it now.

Have not had to touch my set up after doing the change. Been working great. Of course I picked up a 6.0 now that thinking of installing, but they make brackets that puts compressor in the same spot as I currently have it

I believe I had to add oil because of the larger dual ac system. The spec sheet for sanden installation had good guide lines for oil capacity. I had a thread posted with it in this section

Yes, they make sanden brackets for the LS swaps. I have a 6.0 in my k5 and in the process of buying both.
Just have to get the one that is for your particular compressor.

Which compressor did you go with? I'm trying to decide.

I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I’m swapping my 85 GMC to a sanden and wanted to see if anyone knows of bracket options for doing this swap on engines that have the compressor on the driver side?

It’s going to be quite a bit of fab work if there’s not something available and I’d rather not engineer something if I don’t have to and if someone smarter than me has already done it.

Does it have r4 or a6? Either r4 or a6 swap brackets work. Ict billet or vintage air bracket

It’s going to be quite a bit of fab work if there’s not something available and I’d rather not engineer something if I don’t have to and if someone smarter than me has already done it.
Check out Vintage Air. They make Sanden mounts for either side, low or high, short or long water pumps, with and without headers. These are excellent heavy duty mounts and they come in raw metal so you gotta paint them. Be prepared to get out your check book though. They aren't cheap but it'll save you days of fabricating work and they fit perfectly. At least mine did.

Did your R4 have a rear support bracket - and if so, were you able to totally delete it?

At some point ran r4 without the rear support bracket, but better with it. It partially I believe also helps with the compressor noise

I'm using a Sanden also but was more worried about any stress on the aluminum bracket (weight/vibration) from the compressor. Using the R4 bracket - was wondering if I needed to use the original exhaust stud to compressor brace with the Sanden.
