I bought a odd military trailer last July and could not figure out what it was til a few days ago.
Its a one of kind trailer built for this one of kind prototype military vechicle in 1957.
XM384 1957 (Detroit Arsenal)Despite what may suggest the drawings, it is not a prototype of M151 but a test vehicle for use in swampy ground or low lift. The XM384 prototypes were designed and assembled by Detroit Arsenal. used all the mechanical elements of the first version of the M1511/4 ton Ford, all based on a wider track chassis. The bridge design lent itself to this configuration in tandem on eight driving wheels with two front bridges disengaged and directors. The driver in very advanced position, motor unit box is advanced and deported on the right. Front and rear tracks are extended compared to a M151. Load capacity 1 ton.
But this the only photo of the trailer I could find so far. Hoping to find more to help with the restoration.
I found many other unique prototypes while searching.
I'll add a more later.
