More new is coming ...

The K&N air filter has been on the truck for many years ..
It was made for dirt circle track racing ..

Being it's reusable, seen many servicing .. Wash, let dry and reoil ..
Back to new again ..
But it seem to have shrunk about 3/4-7/8 of a inch and no longer sits flush on the base plate causing the bonnet to be crooked bolted down ..
Over the years this problem has got worse ...
Looks like it's time for a replacement .

Think I know why it shrunk ... Living 10 years in the Mojave Desert was very hard on rubber products .. If the old Binder was a horse there was many days that it would had it's tongue hanging out !!

Just got off the horn with K&N ... Sent some photos for them to see what I'm dealing with ... They are sending me a new one ... Lifetime warrantee they do stand behind ..
My hat is off to those boys, I was going to try to run the old filter after attempting to stretching the rubber back out to close to where it once was ... No need for that now !

Working the firewall is going well ..
In the mode of filling up holes ..

The repop firewall under dash pad came with plastic push in fasteners .. Meaning the tail will be sticking out of the wall on the engine side ..
Since I'm shooting for doing a smoothie firewall, I have a idea of welding in studs .. Got a order pending for the parts to pull this look off ..

Will have only two cables going though the firewall, the throttle & speedometer ...

Gave a little thought about getting rid of the speedo cable by going to a electronic speedo gauge package ..

But do like the factory gauges that was Oem for 1954 much better than the aftermarkets ... They still work as good as day one ..

Filled the hole for the E-brake cable ...
The R-100 truck used a hand operated under dash E-brake with a huge cable going though the wall .. Most of the other trucks that International made had the E-brake in the floor ..
In order to get rid of that hole & cable we have this that at the moment is on the wish list ..

E-Stopp Push-Button Electric Emergency Brakes

E-Stopp push-button electric emergency brakes are perfect for custom trucks, street rods, or any vehicle. They not only free up room on the chassis and in the interior, but double as an anti-theft device when the activation button is hidden.

The E-Stopp units will work with any kind of braking system that can accept an emergency brake cable; and they mount anywhere there's room on the chassis. Kits include the actuator, the control box with lighted push-button switch, and wire connectors. E-Stopp push-button electric emergency brakes are controlled by a microcomputer that regulates the amount of pull--they will only pull up to 600 lbs. before they're locked down.

The button has a detachable head for easy install, and allows both visual and audible recognition. Also included is a patented ignition safety feature that renders the brake inoperable while the ignition is on. E-Stopp recently added another ground sync wire that can be hooked up to the parking symbol light on your dashboard. Again, this system can be used as a theft deterrent by hiding the e-brake button under the dash or in the glove compartment, or by installing a kill switch. Basically, if someone doesn't know how to unlock your rear end, they'll have a difficult time stealing your vehicle.

A bit pricey just for eliminating a hole .. !!

All the wiring will be routed though this passthrough custom billet block ..
(I hope, there will be a sh*tload of wires)

Hole size is 1-1/2" ... Can elongate the hole if need be ??

Nicely made re-pop ..

It's made of black press board, with 1/2 inch jute insulation pad on the side that faces the firewall, die cut and made to fit exactly as original.

Been very busy under the dash ...

Since I did away with the cable E-brake handle gave me room to mount the cruise control module, gear shift decoder box was mounted next to the cruise module and next to it was the key buzzer module ..
Needed to nail down those three items in order to see where the fuse box needs to be mounted ..

Starting to look like a rat's nest under there ...

Kind of what I had going on before ..

Looks to me like he's a thinker !!
(Or a stinker, wonder what his Daddy was thinking when he jumped into his Johnboat and found the motor was gone ??)

I'm still hopping to find a aux. right side gas tank ..
Every few months I'll make a post in a few areas of the internet with my wants ...

The Scammers are hungry, had about 9 so far trying there best to get in my pocket ..
4 of those lost souls sent me the same dag-gum photos ..
And 2 of em sent me photos of my own left side tank !!

Now I really don't have a big need for the right side tank ..
Have the restored left tank and a 30 ga bed tank in play ..
Biggest reason I'm wanting the tank is this Nos gauge switch ..

Tells the fuel level in all three tanks..
Was a factory option back in the good old days ..
Going to wire it up to the two tanks that I already have and run a wire to the right side tank so it will be there when I finally get my greasy hands on a tank ..

Cool tank restoration modification! That tank is thick! Like stuff lol

I may be doing this to a left side tank too !!

Since the hunt hasn't netted a factory right side tank, I'm about to jump into a job that I was hoping to avoid ..

Maybe I need a new hunting dog !?!

There's a new look on the Holley cable bracket ..
With the TPS, THROTTLE cables in play was running out of places to nail on another cable ..

This setup should work well for the cruise cable ...
Want to thank TJ at Dakota Digital for his input ..

They said that the cruise cable had to be secured so as it wouldn't be floating or flexing during cruise operation ...

Find tuning the cruise cable .. Not going to use the throttle cable pin that it's hooked to now ..

Got a Moroso bushing kit coming .. That moves the cable up on the carb throttle lever to the huge hole ..

This move will help smooth out the cruise cable from having a jerking motion ..

Plus, nailing the cable down so as it doesn't float or flex during cruise operation ..

And the replacement air filter came in today ...

Pretty wild seeing how much the old filter shrunk !
35+ years took a toll on critter ..

Tomorrow should have the fuse panel nailed down on the wall ..
Homemade standoffs will be welded to the wall, keeping the engine bay firewall clean .. We'll see how that goes ??
