Found a out of the way spot to mount the TPS ..

Carb is looking kind of busy ..
Not sure it's needed, but been thinking about doing a fast idle solenoid .. ?

Been giving some thought on how to go about doing this ..
Since the return springs been relocated to the front of the carb. the solenoid is going to be mounted in the spot where the springs use to be ..
I'll need to make up a bracket to mount to the intake bolts ..

I'm thinking the solenoid might be overkill .. ??
With this motor being a hoss and using a 508 compressor that doesn't require as much grunt as the older compressors did, may not need the fast idle solenoid ??

But ...
Would be much easier to make the bracket and do the fit with having the motor on the stand than being in the truck ...
Once I get it running and see that it's not needed, can always delete it, just two bolts and one wire to contend with ..
.. Seeyabye type deal ..

I'm confused.

Is the complete engine just being used for mockup and you're building a different one for the actual truck?
Thank you, I was wondering that as well

The complete motor on the stand is from a 1988 motorhome .. Has 75,000 miles on the clock .. Tis a two bolt main with a cast crank and peanut port heads ...

The bare block that I installed a sleeve in is the last year of the Mark IV's (1965 to 1990) and is a 4-bolt main ..
This motor will take some time to build cause of some hi-dollar parts will be needed ..
Doing a stroker to it ...
.250" more stroke than what the 454 ci has ..
With a .060" overbore gets the cubes to 496" ...

Also I have nailed down a set of buildable 871 heads ..

These will be seeing O/S one piece SS valves with 11/32" stem diameter, bronze guides are on the 'Yet to get' list too ..

Meantime the 454 will be going in the truck until the 496 is done ..
Lot of the parts will be reused from the 454 onto the 496 when the time comes to do the swap ..

So Fellows, don't be holding your breath !
