The Precision website shows two types of gaskets, self locking or lock strip.
I’m familiar with the lock strip, though I haven’t installed one in decades.
Anyone use the self locking gasket? If so how did it install?

Yes, I’ve been on their site and spoke with them on the phone… just wanted some input from someone that wasn’t an actual “Glass” installation guy. :)
It looks like I’ll be doing this my self, ordered the lock strip seal.
I hope you have better luck than we did. 9hrs and 2 windshields later cuz we busted one...and it still leaked. I will forever pay someone to do windshields and back glasses

Maybe I got lucky. First and only square body windshield. Successful install. No sealant used, no leaks, no broken glass. Although me and my son had to walk away after a couple hours and tackle it again later before we DID break something! lol.
Only minor fubar is I scuffed the chrome on the lock strip in a few places. Although lock strip is the easy part compared to getting the seal in 100%. The key to the seal is just like the videos show. It’s relentless “slap pushing” the windshield from one side about 1000x because it move about 2/1000ths of a mm each time! And I had the dash out and cheated some from the inside getting the gasket right that couldn’t have done with the dash in.
Back window is a piece of cake comparatively. Only challenge is the corner trim on the lock strip.
But I too would strongly consider hiring out a windshield and will when I replace the 77 windshield.

My only experience with that style was a piece of flat glass that I had a glass shop make for a piece of farm machinery. It was a b!tch to install, but I chocked that up to the glass being cut a little oversized on one end.

I dunno. I put a windshield in my '78 a few years back and it wasn't too bad. It took an hour-ish for the actual install, after doing some finish work to the pinch welds that GM should have done in the first place. I definitely will do the next one myself as well.

I have a guy who has done glass for me for several years but it seems he’s got family issues and can’t get back to me.
I’ll at least get the seals in, I did trim and smooth up both front & rear pinch welds, and the dash and headliner haven’t been installed yet either.
I’ve got word out I need this style glass installed, it’s so very labor intensive vs newer styles.
