Not my actual first car but first car restored. Wasn’t after an Imp, but growing up in the rust belt, anything cool like a Chevelle was out of the budget unless it was a rust bucket.
Found this Alabama car.
Factory 400/th350.
Drove it for a couple years and then repainted it.

Not an actual pic found this on the net. My car had different wheels and hardtop not a Landau top.

1976 Custom Deluxe K10. I got it at 14yrs old with a blown motor. By 16yrs old it had a rebuilt motor, new doors and fenders and redone interior. For my high school graduation gift my parents had it painted for me. Sadly, I sold it a couple years later to help pay for college.

My 15yr old son just got his first 2weeks ago. A 1998 GMC Sierra sle, 5.7l with an auto. He did the negotiating with the 83yr old owner on the price and we’ve been wrenching on it and driving it around town on a learners permit. He is super proud of it and excited to work on it.

That is, and interesting that whoever ordered it sprung for the grille upgrade on the Custom Deluxe trim.

That's cool!
:waytogo:
Nice lookin "SQOUND"!!! @Goldie Driver

Thanks! I couldn't figure out multiple quote across two pages...

I've been through 3 of those grilles and it did in fact come with the chromed one, it had a big crack when I got the truck. There was a family friend at the local GMC/Pontiac dealer that would get me parts for his cost. I think I paid about $350 each for those suckers, he was blown away at the cost back then and told me it was probably the most expensive grille for that body. It also had a nice charcoal/blue two tone under the tan paint, I assumed two tone with the trim was an expensive option too.

Heres a pic of the only photos I have from when I was in High School, top 2 are right after a fresh coat of Dupont DCC single stage in bright white, bottom is parked at the service station I worked at in HS next to my buddies 75 C-10 Stepside.

My first car ‘80 Z28, i bought it when I was 15 from hay hauling money. It is a factory 350/4-speed car. Drove the piss out of it for 5 years. I hated to get rid of it but I had just got married and it helped me get the down payment on our house. I sold it back to the original owner for an extra grand more than I paid him for it. He said he wanted it back the moment I drove off with it. He still has it and it is still nice, I have tried to buy it back a few times, he says I will have the first shot at it if he ever gets rid of it.

Here is mine, with my senior picture (don't laugh :p )....dam I was young.

This is my 80 Olds 2-door Delta88 Royal Brougham. My dad bought it when I was 14 or 15, he wanted the hubcaps from it. He kept it though as a first car for me. The paint was all chalky on it, the landau top was all cracked up on it. This was the first ever car I restored/bodywork/welding and paint, I threw on a set of 70's Olds rally rims and white letters for a nice touch.

As you can see from this pic, there is a decent sized dent in the rear drivers fender. Well things like that bugged me, my friends dad (restoring cars since he was 15, and near retirement when he taught me proper techniques) gave me a helping hand and taught me how to get a vehicle body straight as glass with only using minor amounts of filler.

I re-did this car after this picture, and holy balls the thing was a work of art. I then re-built a '73 Olds Rocket 350 for it (around 350 hp) and had an effing blast with this car. She floated down the road like a cloud, and when you got on it that little 350 would make this baby move. Kinda cool feeling the "twist" of that engine and seeing your front left fender raise up when you were really getting on it.

I only got pulled over 3, or 4 times with it, exhibition driving or some crap. One night my friend got pulled over for something I did :rotflmao: That night I was following a buddy in town, and someone drove by me and threw eggs out their window (a week after 2nd restoration) and went all over my hood & grill, my friend turned his truck around and went after them, after he turned around I hit the brakes, turned left and stomped on it and swung this pig around and kept it floored.......cherry's behind me turned on, I pull over and he fly's by me and pulls my friend over!!!!! WTF...now I had to stop behind the cop. First time a cop threatened to draw a gun on me too after I got out of my car trying to tell the cop all of this was my fault and I was making the noise (this guy was a dink, later got fired because he was a dink). Anyhow, super fun car. People in the truck got away that egged my car.

I miss this car, a lot! I sold it to the neighbor kid who trashed it, went through 3 engines, and it now sits in a local woods with the windows down. Last I saw it the interior had multiple bags of some animal food in it and was trashed, I about cried.

My first resto. It was a father-son project. 1965 442.

LOVE those Oldsmobiles!!!!! I respect them all, the early ones were boxy and just cool looking, in 68 up they had those beautiful flowing body lines. '68 & '69 being my two favorite Olds years.

I had a chance to purchase a 67 Olds 442, 400 & 4-speed manual, but I passed on it (frame had a bad spot, body/interior/engine was good). Looking back, I was young and dumb.....he would've sold it to me for (gulp) $1,000.......
