Apparently '80 Z28 Camaros are a thing in this thread.. So i'll add mine! Loved that car from the time I tried to buy it at 15 years old until I finally did at 19, and completely redid the car, interior, drivetrain, suspension, paint and body, the whole shebang. Sold it right before I turned 25 to have the money to put down on my first house. Went lookin for it several years later and it was owned by some real winners in northern IL, tried to buy it back, and I know it's nowhere near the condition of when I sold it, I learned it has a cheapo crate engine in it to replace the long rod 355 I had built for it due to being blown up from it being absolutely beat on. And last I knew it was sitting alongside their garage and they "ain't sellin' that Camaruh". I'd probably buy it back today if I could. It was the first one that got away, but I did use the money for a good cause back then. So when I couldn't buy it, and feeling it was time for another toy I went looking for my second vehicle love, An early '80's K30 and that's how I ended up here about 5 years ago. Lol

LOVE those Oldsmobiles!!!!! I respect them all, the early ones were boxy and just cool looking, in 68 up they had those beautiful flowing body lines. '68 & '69 being my two favorite Olds years.

I had a chance to purchase a 67 Olds 442, 400 & 4-speed manual, but I passed on it (frame had a bad spot, body/interior/engine was good). Looking back, I was young and dumb.....he would've sold it to me for (gulp) $1,000.......
There are so many stories like that. I would love to have some of old cars today. I restomodded that 442. I bored and stroked the engine to 442 cu. in. That was just a little wild hair that I had. It dynoed at about 500 hp and about 520 tq. I took out the slushy 2 speed and dropped in a 700r4, replaced all the suspension with modern parts and discs in all four corners. That car was like it was on rails.

Only picture I have of it. Not my first car, but my first ever off road build. I miss it everyday(That I think about it).

How has your back recovery gone?

like the title says: dig up those pictures if you can of your high school car or the first car you restored.

dug this picture up of my first car going through an old external hard drive. got it at 14 for almost nothing. nobody in the air-cooled vw world wants super beetles except the "German Look" guys. had to pull the body off and weld in full pans as it was a Fred Flintstone special. block was rusted dead. I spent every dime I had on that car from money I'd been saving since 12 mowing neighbors lawns until I was 16 when I finished it. broke a few labor laws working to make money...shhh! didn't have much into it engine wise when this pic was taken my sophomore year of high school. just a 1641cc dual port with dual Webbers and fully merged header. I found a complete tmi interior at a swap meet from a guy who changed his mind on color schemes. the color of the interior dictated the exterior color of the car which was Porsche Mint Green. went through every aspect of that thing with an obsessive attention to detail.

anyway, here I am at 16 trying to look like it was no big deal, haha!

That's priceless Punner, keep it alive and on the road. Invest in a garage perhaps.

That's a cool video. I'm not going to lie, that giant "Z28" on the door was kinda cool in a nostalgic sort of way. I used to see similar stuff on local cars here back in the early 90's.

Those little ones are 20 and 22 now. Great kids but I failed to get them interested in american cars though:confused:
