Before I bought my square, I was looking at everything. I looked at a bullnose Ford, I looked at a Dodge. I thought the squares would be out of my price range for a toy but I found one. I'm not brand loyal, I initially wanted a 67-72 bumpside Ford. The biggest problem I faced was finding something in upstate NY that wasn't all rusted out.

I've always considered the bump side to be one of the prettier Fords. My dad had a '69 F100 Ranger that was beautiful.

Totally agree and I am a fan of the 300 I-6 for sure, very torquey.

With this list... maybe a rented u-haul furniture hauler. Or a mid seventies dodge with a 225 slant 6 with an air conditioner, automatic. With an 8 track... gotta have an 8 track.

The 300 was arguably one of the best inline 6s ever made, right along with the AMC 232 and 258. The slant 6 was also an interesting, and durable creature. The efi versions of the various inline 6 designs got decent fuel economy too.

I'd say if no Chevy then Toyota all day. But since no mini-trucks are allowed and we gotta go full-size probably Jeep. Next would be a big block Dodge. As for Fords, well first I'd rather learn how to drive a team of mules.

My parents had Wagoneers growing up. A '72 and a '78. They were ok- always like the Cherokee Chief better. Neighbors had one.

I remember my Pop being on the fence and having trouble deciding back in 1977. He knew the first Gen Bronco was a useful and practical choice and they were Very Good in the Gumbo mud down here in Swampy Flatlandistan.

I have always driven GMC but I share Pop's love and admiration for those old Broncos. That would have to be my second choice.

Yep, none of the above. Havta go with a Cornbinder. Dad had 2 over the years. First one was a 50 long bed flathead 6 and 4 speed, bought it 2nd hand from the local Oliver tractor dealer in 1959. I drove it off and on when my 56 210 broke down, more on than off....lol..The 2nd was a 1974 half ton , 345, 4 speed, kind of a lime green with the center wood grain insert, GREAT truck.....NOT pretty!!! Dad got it sometime in the late 70s, had it til he died

I have to agree with you. I had the 72 several years back and am looking at a 1/2 ton LB now. It's a 70 with the torsion front suspension and 345/727 auto. I loved the quaint look and clean but boxy lines on that old 72 truck. I haven't bought the 70 yet but I sure am looking online at other trucks to get some ideas on fixing it.

I have to agree with you. I had the 72 several years back and am looking at a 1/2 ton LB now. It's a 70 with the torsion front suspension and 345/727 auto. I loved the quaint look and clean but boxy lines on that old 72 truck. I haven't bought the 70 yet but I sure am looking online at other trucks to get some ideas on fixing it.

My Grandpa restored one of those and gave it to my cousin and he ruined it. It was 2WD 3/4 ton with I beam/leaf spring front suspension.

One of the local Mopar guys has one that he has restored. He has a book of the restoration photos he takes to the car shows, he always puts it on top of the radiator.
